Emma: Hey, Ray! Where are you 02 going?
Ray: Hi, Emma. I’m going climbing.
Emma: Climbing? I thought you were afraid of heights!
Ray: Not any more! I went climbing on Ben Nevis in Scotland during the summer holiday. I was really nervous
at first. But in the end, I had a wonderful time.
Emma: Ben Nevis? That’s the highest mountain in the UK!
Ray: Yes, it is. I climbed all the way to the top! It was amazing.
Emma: Who were you with?
Ray: My uncle. He lives in Inverness, in Scotland, and I stayed with him for two weeks in July. He goes climbing
every weekend.
Emma: What was the weather like when you were there?
Ray: It was quite warm in Inverness. But it was cool in the mountains. It was perfect weather for climbing.
Emma: So are you going to the mountains now?
Ray: Don’t be silly! The closest mountains are two hours away. I’m going to the climbing wall at the sports centre.
What about you, Emma? Where are you going?
Emma: I’m going to meet some friends. I met them during the holidays while my cousin and I were volunteering
for the city.
Ray: What kind of volunteer work did you do?
Emma: We helped to clean up the park. We picked up rubbish and planted trees – not as exciting as your
holiday, right?
Ray: I think that’s great! It’s more important than climbing mountains. Well, have a good time with your
friends, Emma.
Emma: Thanks, Ray. Enjoy your climb.
