heritage. Who have heard about the story of greatly influenced art and culture in the
Ramayana? Any idea? Indian subcontinent and South-East
Asia.
Yes, Angela
Very good, angela!

Now, who is the author of ramayana?

Yes Riza? Sir, Maharshi Valmiki.

Thank you!

Who is the first character in story?

Sir, King Dasharatha

Very Good!

Now who is excited to know the story of

ramayana?

We are sir!
Okay, let’s start. Allow me to read the first
paragraph.

Long ago, Dasharatha, the wise king of

Ayodhya of Sarayu, India had three wives.
Though the King had three wives, he didn’t
have any children with them. The Chief priest
Vasishta advised the king to make fire
sacrifice to obtain a blessing from the gods.
After the gods were pleased, one of them
appeared out of the flame and handed him a
pot full of nectar.

What you have notice in the first paragraph,

class?

Yes, venus?

Sir, king daharatha has three wives.

Thank you. What else?

He doesn’t have any children with them
sir.
What did the chief Vasisgta advise to the
king?

Yes, Ella?

Sir, to make a sacrifice to be blessed by

gods.

Very Good!
So this passage sets the stage for the birth of
Rama as we'll learn later.

Next paragraph, please read Jovelyn.

The god told the king to share the

nectar with his three queens namely
Kausalya, Kaikeye, and Sumitra. While
the nectar had been shared, the three
queens gave birth to sons: Kausalya
had Rama; Kaikeye had Bharatha; and
Sumitra had twins Lakshmana and
Shatrughna. A sage took the boys out to
So the god gave the king a special drink, or train them in archery.
perhaps a special kind of milk, for his three
wives.

Who is the three wives again?

Yes Jasmine?

Thank you! Sir, Kausalya, Kaikeye, and Sumitra.

What are the names of the king's sons?

Yes leny?
Sir, Rama, Bharatha, Lakshmana and
Very well said! Shatrughna.

So the king aligned the four brothers and sets

the stage for their future roles as they’re
trained in archery.
Kindly read the next two paragraph. Yes
Princess?

In a neighboring city, the ruler's

daughter was named Sita. When it was
tim e for Sita to choose her bridegroom,
at a ceremony called a Swayamvara,
the princes were asked to string a giant
bow. No one else could even lift the
bow, but as Rama bent it, he did not
only string it but also broke it into two.
Sita indicated that she chose Rama as
her husband by putting a garland
around his neck. The disappointed
suitors were watching.

King Dasharatha, Rama's father,

decided it was time to give his throne to
his eldest son Rama and retired to the
forest to seek moksha. Everyone seems
pleased. This plan fulfilled the rules of
dharma because an eldest son should
rule and, if a son can take over one's
responsibilities, one's last years may be
spent in a search for moksha. In
Sita, the princess, was to choose her husband addition, everyone loved Rama.
in a Swayamvara ceremony where princes
had to string a giant bow. Only Rama could
lift the bow, and he not only strung it but
broke it, demonstrating his strength.
Impressed, Sita chose him by placing a
garland around his neck, showcasing her
independence in selecting her husband.

What do you think about the second passage.

Yes, Mary Angel?

King Dasharatha decided to retire to the

forest for moksha and passed the throne
to his eldest son, Rama. This was seen
as a righteous act, aligning with
dharma, which states that the eldest son
inherits the throne, allowing the father
to pursue spiritual goals.
Very Good, Mary Angel!

Please read the next passage , Deserre?

However, Rama's stepmother, the king's

second wife, was not pleased. She
wanted her son, Bharata, to rule.
Because of an oath Dasharatha had
made to her years before, she got the
king to agree to banish Rama for
fourteen years and to crown Bharata
even though the king, on bended knee,
begged her not to demand such things.
Broken-hearted, the devastated king
could not face Rama with the news that
Kaikeyi must tell him.

Rama's stepmother, Kaikeyi, was jealous and

wanted her son Bharata to be king. She used
a past oath King Dasharatha had made to her
to force him to banish Rama for 14 years and
crown Bharata. The king, heartbroken and
unable to face Rama with this news, made
Kaikeyi deliver the devastating message.

Next passage , please read Mhyrhyll?

Rama, always obedient, was as content

to go into banishment in the forest as to
be crowned king. Sita convinced Rama
that she would always be at his side and
his brother Lakshmana also begged to
accompany them. Rama, Sita, and
Lakshmana set out to the forest.
Did Rama accepted his banishment?

Yes sir.
Next passage, Regielyn.

Bharata, whose mother's evil plot had

won him the throne, was very upset
when he found out what had happened.
Not for a moment he did consider
breaking the rules of dharma and
becoming king in Rama's place. He
went to Rama's forest retreat and
begged Rama to return and rule, but
Rama refused. "We must obey father,"
Rama says. Bharata then took Rama's
sandals saying, "I will put these on the
throne, and every day I shall place the

dharma by taking the throne while Rama was
exiled. He went to the forest to plead with
Rama to return and rule, but Rama refused,
citing his duty to obey his father. Bharata, in
a gesture of respect and loyalty, took Rama's
sandals and placed them on the throne,
symbolizing Rama's rightful place as king.
He vowed to rule in Rama's name and
offered the fruits of his labor at Rama's feet
daily. He then returned to Ayodhya,
embracing Rama and carrying his sandals as
a reminder of his true king.

Who took the throne again class?

Yes, Cherra?

Sir, kaikeye’s son, Bharta.

Very good!

Do you think Bharata’s regreting to be a

king?

Yes, Angela?

Why? Yes, sir.

Because he is only placed on the

throne due to his mother's
manipulation.
Very well said, thank you!
