“AICTE ACTIVITY POINT PROGRAM”

Awareness Program on Digital India

Date – 16/01/2023-20/01/2023
Duration – 5 days
Time – 11:00 am to 6:00 pm
Place – Belagavi

Digitalization refers to the integration and implementation of existing and

emerging technologies by organizations to enhance both internal operations and
external interactions, ultimately aiming to deliver superior customer services and
experiences with greater efficiency. In India, initiatives like Make in India and Digital
India have become synonymous with the nation’s pursuit of sustainable industrial and
financial development. The government is actively promoting the adoption and
upgrading of technology while ensuring high-speed connectivity across the country to
bridge the digital divide and connect even the most remote areas.
This push toward digital inclusion has unveiled a vast, previously untapped
market for digital connectivity in India. The introduction and widespread adoption of
digital payment platforms such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Bharat Interface
for Money (BHIM), mobile wallets, and applications like Paytm have significantly
transformed the Indian financial ecosystem. To stay competitive in this fast-evolving
landscape, the assimilation of capital-intensive global technologies, modern
infrastructure, and advanced processes is becoming increasingly crucial.
The primary goal of the Digitalization Awareness Program was to instill
awareness among local business owners and traders about the benefits of digital
financial transactions. This initiative aimed to educate them on the significance of
digital banking, financial literacy, and time-efficient transaction methods. The
program was conducted in small-scale businesses, rental outlets, and grocery startups.
Students involved in the initiative explained the practical use of digital transaction
systems and emphasized essential precautionary measures to ensure safe usage. They
were also introduced to basic banking operations, equipping them with foundational
knowledge necessary for conducting secure and efficient financial transactions.

Awareness Program on Waste Management

Date – 07/08/2023-11/08/2023
Duration – 5 day
Time – 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
Place – Belagavi
Brief about the event: Under AICTE Activity Point Program – Contribution to
National Initiatives. As part of the AICTE Activity Point Program under the
category “Contribution to any national level initiative of the Government of India,”
an Awareness Program on Waste Management was organized by the students of the
8th semester, Mechanical Engineering Department. This initiative aligned with the
objectives of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, one of the most impactful and widespread
cleanliness drives undertaken by the Government of India.

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness” a principle strongly advocated by

Mahatma Gandhi, who emphasized the importance of both personal and community
cleanliness. Inspired by his vision, the Swachh Bharat Mission has made significant
strides in promoting hygiene, sanitation, and waste management across the country.
The campaign aims to transform India into a clean and sustainable nation by
encouraging public participation in efforts such as open defecation eradication,
integrated waste management, and plastic-free practices.

The Waste Management Awareness Program was conducted in and around

the college premises to educate and engage the local community. The objective was
to instill a sense of responsibility among individuals regarding proper waste disposal
and the importance of maintaining clean surroundings. Students interacted with the
community, highlighting the environmental and health hazards of poor waste
practices and promoting effective waste segregation and recycling habits.

The campaign emphasized that cleanliness is not just a government

responsibility but a shared duty of every citizen. A clean environment fosters
positive thoughts, reduces disease occurrence, and enhances the overall quality of
life.

Awareness Program on Energy Conservation

Date – 08/07/2024-12/07/2024

Duration – 5 days

Time – 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Place – Belagavi

Brief about the activity: Under AICTE activity point program on “Awareness Program
on Energy Conservation” visit and to create the awareness of Energy Conservation.

As part of the AICTE Activity Point Program, the students of the Mechanical
Engineering Department at Jain College of Engineering and Research undertook an
Awareness Program on Energy Conservation. The initiative aimed to educate the
community and promote conscious energy usage as a vital step toward a sustainable and
secure future.

Energy conservation is far more than simply turning off lights—it is a key
strategy in reducing our reliance on non-renewable resources such as fossil fuels. By
conserving energy, we help to lower greenhouse gas emissions, combat climate change,
and safeguard the environment. It also plays a crucial role in ensuring long-term energy
security for future generations. Beyond its environmental impact, energy conservation
also offers significant economic advantages. Reduced energy consumption leads to lower
energy bills for individuals, industries, and communities alike. With the right mix of
behavioral change, technological innovation, and investment in clean energy sources,
energy conservation presents a win-win scenario—benefiting both the environment and
the economy.

To contribute to this important cause, the students visited various schools and
institutions across Belagavi to spread awareness about the importance of energy
conservation. Through interactive sessions, demonstrations, and discussions, students
engaged with the local community, emphasizing practical steps that can be adopted in
daily life to reduce energy waste.

Tourism Promotion Activity

Date – 18/11/2024-22/11/2024

Duration – 5 days

Time – 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Place – Belagavi

Brief about the activity: As part of the AICTE Activity Point Program under the theme
“Tourism Promotion through Innovative Approaches”, students participated in visits to
various tourist destinations with the aim of promoting them.

In the context of tourism, promotion involves strategically planned activities that

communicate the value of tourist products and services to potential visitors. This includes
the use of brochures, billboards, newspaper advertisements, and increasingly, digital
media. Effective promotion provides potential tourists with compelling information that
shapes their perception and motivates them to explore the destinations.

Every tourist site holds historical or cultural significance, which can be a powerful
tool in attracting visitors. By highlighting these historical aspects, tourism promotion
becomes more meaningful and engaging.

During this activity, students visited several historical and culturally significant
locations in and around Belagavi. They gathered detailed information about the historical
background of each place. This information was then used to create promotional content.

Recognizing the impact of digital outreach, students utilized social media platforms
to share photographs and facts about these destinations. By leveraging platforms such as
Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, they aimed to reach a wider audience and generate
interest in the rich heritage and scenic beauty of Belagavi’s tourist spots.

Tree Plantation
Date – 17/03/2025-21/03/2025

Duration – 5 days

Time – 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Place – Belagavi

Brief about the activity: Under AICTE activity point program on “Environmental
protection” plantation activity was carried out.

Environmental plantation is a proactive effort undertaken by individuals,

communities, organizations, and governments to protect and restore the natural
environment. Its core objectives include the conservation of natural resources,
preservation of ecosystems, and, wherever possible, the rehabilitation of degraded
environments. With increasing pressures from overconsumption, rapid population
growth, and technological advancement, the biophysical environment is facing severe
degradation—often irreversible. Recognizing this challenge, governments and
environmental organizations worldwide have initiated policies and actions to mitigate
environmental damage. Since the 1960s, global environmental movements have helped
raise awareness about these critical issues.

As a part of this broader effort, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at

Jain College of Engineering and Research conducted a Tree Plantation Drive within the
college campus and at the RC Nagar 2nd Stage Garden. The initiative aimed to enhance
the green cover, promote environmental awareness, and contribute to a cleaner and
healthier environment in and around the college and public spaces.

A variety of native and ornamental trees were planted during the drive, with
arrangements made for their regular care and maintenance. Tree plantation not only
improves air quality and reduces pollution but also plays a vital role in regulating the
ecological balance. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, making them
essential for all living organisms. Moreover, they contribute to biodiversity, improve soil
quality, and support the overall environmental cycle.
