Topic : Job Application Process
Tasks : Part A: 15 marks – Job Application Email
Part B: 20 marks – Written Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Assessment 1 is a take-home assessment consisting of TWO (2) parts; Part A and Part B.
Students are required to complete the tasks in both parts based on the instructions and
requirements provided.

INSTRUCTIONS

As a recent graduate, you are actively seeking employment. You are required to conduct a
job search and apply for a position that aligns with your qualifications and career aspirations.
Follow the instructions carefully to complete this assessment:

1. Search for relevant job advertisements in your field on recognised job portals (e.g.,
JobStreet, JobsMalaysia, etc.).

2. Select a company or organisation that you are interested in and thoroughly research
the its values, career prospects, and benefits to determine if it aligns with your
professional goals.

3. Apply for a specific position is relevant to your field of expertise. Carefully review the
job requirements to ensure that your qualifications, skills, and experience meet the
necessary criteria for the position.

4. Consult your instructor to confirm that the job is suitable for your professional
development before you proceed further.

Part A: Job Application Email (15%)


1. Write a job application email using the email template provided (refer Attachment 3).

2. Address your email to the person with the authority to offer you the job.

3. Express your interest in the position and elaborate on your unique abilities and
potential to meet the organisation’s needs. Ensure that the details you provide are
relevant to the job requirements.

4. Refer to the marking scheme for further information.

Format:
• Full block format: left align, single spacing.

• Font type: Times New Roman; Font size: 12.

Part B: Written CV (15%)

1. Prepare a comprehensive written CV with specific details relevant to the position you
are applying for. Ensure it includes all content outlined in the marking scheme.

2. Refer to the marking scheme for further information.

Format:

• May use Microsoft Word or any online tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe, etc.) to create CV.

• Ensure design is professional and readable.

• Font type: Choose a professional and easy-to-read font; Font size: 10-12 (allow a larger
font size for name).

• Section headings should be in uppercase or bold.

• Use 1.0 line spacing.

Submission of Assessment 1

1. Compile the documents for your Assessment 1 in the following order:


• Assessment Cover Page (refer to Attachment 1)
• Job Advertisement (with source and date of retrieval; refer to Attachment 2)
• Email (refer to Attachment 3 for template)
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)

2. Submit the completed Assessment 1 via the submission link on eLEAP provided by your
instructor. The submission of printed copy is subject to your instructor’s request.

3. The deadline for this assignment is during WEEK 8 (12-18 MAY 2025). You are
required to submit your Assessment 1 by the deadline set by your instructor.

4. Late submissions without valid reason will result in a penalty of TWO (2)
marks per day deducted from the total marks (35 marks) for this assessment.
