Topic : Vector and 3-D
Time Allowed- 1 hours Maximum Marks-30

General Instructions:
 All questions are compulsory.
 The question paper consists of 30 questions divided into four sections A, B, C and D.
 Section A comprises of 4 questions of 1 mark each,
 Section B comprises of 3 questions of 2 marks each.
 Section C comprises of 2 questions of 4 marks each
 Section D comprises of 2 questions of 6 marks each.
Section – A
1. The positon vectors of A and B are ⃗ A and ⃗B respectively . P divides AB in the ratio of 3:1
and Q is the mid-point of AP . Find position vector of Q.
2. Find the equation of line through the point (1.-1,1) and perpendicular to the line joining the
points (4,3,2) ; (1,-1,0) and (1,2,-1) and (2,1,1).
3. If a line has direction ratios 2,-1,-2 then find its direction cosines.
4. Write the intercept cut off by the plane 2x + y − z = 5 on x − axis.
Section – B

5. Find the shortest distance between the lines:


r⃗ = (3i -15 j + 9k ) + (2i -7j + 5k ) and r⃗ = (-i + j + 9k ) + (2i + j -3k)
6. Find the vector equation of the plane passing through the intersection of the planes :
r⃗ .(2i + 2j - 3k ) = 7 and r⃗ .(2i + 5j + 3k ) = 9 and through the point (2,1,3) .

8. Find the vector and Cartesian equation of the plane passing through the points (1,1,-1) ;
(6,4,-5) and (-4,-2,3).
9. Find the position vector of the foot of the perpendicular drawn from the point P (1,8,4) to the
line joining A ( 0,-1,3) and B (5,4,4). Also find the length of the perpendicular.

Section – D

10. Find the distance between the point (7,2,4) and the plane determined by the points A (2,5,-3),
B (-2, -3,5) and C (5,3, -3).

11. Find the vector and Cartesian equations of a line passing through (1, 2, -4) and
