Assignment Objectives:
Upon completion of this assignment, students will be able to:
➢ Identify the physiological responses triggered by various environmental stimulus such
as temperature, noise, personal space invasion and extreme conditions.

➢ Justify the biological and psychological mechanisms behind each response using real-
life examples and logical reasoning.

Dear Students!
Environmental factors significantly influence human physiology, as discussed in Lesson 4 of
your course Environmental Psychology PSY511. These include the effects of temperature,
noise levels, invasion of personal space and resource scarcity on bodily functions such as
heart rate, blood pressure and hormonal activity.

Below are four real-life examples related to these environmental influences. Your task is to
identify the physiological response associated with each example and provide at least four
logical points to justify your identification.

Please record your answers in the table format provided below.

Marking scheme: 1 mark for approach identification (4*1=4) and 4 marks for
justification (4*4=16)

• Do not rely only on handouts. Different internet links and other reference
books must also be consulted.
• Do not write irrelevant answers.
• Your answers must be given in relation to given scenario in the table.
• Explanation must consist of at least 4 points
• Copy pasted material is strictly prohibited and will result in Zero marks.

Note:
Only in the case of Assignment, 24 hours extra / grace period after the due date
is usually available to overcome uploading difficulties which may be faced by
the students on last date. This extra time should only be used to meet the
emergencies and above-mentioned due dates should always be treated as final to
avoid any inconvenience.

but watch the video lectures, use other reference books and explore
different web links.
