Animals are living things that move, breathe, eat, and grow. They can live on land, in water, or
in the air.

2. Types of Animals:

a. Mammals

 Have hair or fur


 Give birth to live young
 Feed babies with milk
Examples: Humans, dogs, lions

b. Birds

 Have feathers and beaks


 Lay eggs
Examples: Eagles, parrots, penguins

c. Fish

 Live in water
 Have gills to breathe
 Lay eggs
Examples: Salmon, goldfish, sharks

d. Reptiles

 Have dry, scaly skin


 Lay eggs
Examples: Snakes, lizards, turtles

e. Amphibians

 Live on land and in water


 Have moist skin
Examples: Frogs, salamanders

f. Insects

 Have 6 legs and 3 body parts


 Many have wings
Examples: Ants, butterflies, bees
