Class 9 Maths Formulas

1. Number Systems
• a^m × a^n = a^(m+n)

• a^m / a^n = a^(m−n)

• (a^m)^n = a^(mn)

• a^0 = 1 (where a ≠ 0)

• a^(-n) = 1 / a^n

2. Algebra (Polynomials and Identities)

• (a + b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2

• (a − b)^2 = a^2 − 2ab + b^2

• a^2 − b^2 = (a + b)(a − b)

• (x + a)(x + b) = x^2 + (a + b)x + ab

• (a + b + c)^2 = a^2 + b^2 + c^2 + 2ab + 2bc + 2ca

3. Linear Equations in Two Variables

• Standard form: ax + by + c = 0

• Graph of linear equation is a straight line

4. Coordinate Geometry
• Coordinates of a point: (x, y)

• Quadrant signs: I (+,+), II (−,+), III (−,−), IV (+,−)

5. Geometry
• Angle Sum of Triangle = 180°

• Exterior angle of triangle = sum of opposite interior angles

• Pythagoras Theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2

• Heron’s Formula: s = (a + b + c)/2, Area = √[s(s−a)(s−b)(s−c)]

• Sum of angles of a quadrilateral = 360°

• Angle in semicircle = 90°

6. Mensuration
• Cube: SA = 6a^2, V = a^3, Diagonal = a√3

• Cuboid: SA = 2(lb + bh + hl), V = l × b × h, Diagonal = √(l^2 + b^2 + h^2)

• Cylinder: CSA = 2πrh, TSA = 2πr(r + h), V = πr^2h

• Cone: CSA = πrl, TSA = πr(l + r), V = (1/3)πr^2h

• Sphere: SA = 4πr^2, V = (4/3)πr^3

• Hemisphere: CSA = 2πr^2, TSA = 3πr^2, V = (2/3)πr^3

7. Statistics
• Mean = Sum of observations / Number of observations

• Median = Middle value (when data is sorted)

• Mode = Value that occurs most frequently

8. Probability
• P(E) = Number of favorable outcomes / Total number of outcomes
