Tekst 1.
Johnsy had pneumonia. Sue, her closest friend, did her best to care for her, but it was hard.
Sue tried to distract herself by working on her art, but the worry about Johnsy’s condition
made it difficult to focus. The doctor who visited told Sue that Johnsy needed more than
medicine. She had lost the will to live, and that was the real danger.
Sue felt helpless. She sat by Johnsy’s bed, trying to cheer her up by talking about their plans
for the future, but Johnsy barely responded. Instead, she lay in bed, staring out the window at
the ivy vine growing on the brick wall of the building next door. The leaves were falling one by
one as the cold autumn wind blew. Johnsy had started counting the leaves, convinced that
when the last one fell, she would die too.
Despite Sue’s efforts to change her mind, Johnsy couldn’t let go of the idea. Sue knew
Johnsy needed help, so she went downstairs to talk to Mr. Behrman, an old painter who lived
in the same building. He was a grumpy but kind man who had never achieved his dream of
painting a masterpiece. Sue explained Johnsy’s strange belief to him, hoping he might be
able to do something. Mr. Behrman listened carefully, and though he didn’t say much, Sue
could tell he was worried too.

Tekst 2.
Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that cause diseases in both humans and animals.
Some of these viruses cause stomach problems, while others affect the respiratory system.
In humans, most coronaviruses lead to mild illnesses similar to the common cold. However,
some are more severe and spread quickly, potentially leading to death.
The virus gets its name from its crown-like shape formed by protein spikes on its surface.
Some coronaviruses have caused serious outbreaks in humans. One example is SARS
(severe acute respiratory syndrome), which appeared in 2002. SARS caused an epidemic in
2003, mainly in China, with more than 8,000 cases and about 800 deaths. In 2012, another
coronavirus called MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome) emerged in Saudi Arabia and
spread to other countries. In late 2019, a new coronavirus was discovered in Wuhan, China.
This virus caused COVID-19; a disease similar to SARS. People with COVID-19 had fever,
dry cough, and breathing difficulties. The virus spread rapidly across China and the rest of
the world. By early 2020, cases had been reported on all continents except Antarctica.
Experts suggested that people should wash their hands regularly and avoid touching their
face. They also recommend sneezing or coughing into a bent elbow or using a tissue that
should be thrown away immediately.

A how fast the virus spreads.
B where the virus was discovered.
C the type of illnesses the virus causes.
D the way the virus looks.
