Open-VM-Tools is an open source add-on that allows for graceful startup & shutdown of
Cloud Vision Portal. This allows for graceful startup and shutdown of CVP Virtual Machines
with the ESXi manager.

Note: The open-vm-tools package is only supported on Cloud Vision Portal. Open-
vm-tools on Cloud Vision Exchange (CVX) or EOS vRouter is not supported at this
time.

Enabling Open-VM-Tools
Starting in CVP version 2017.2.3 the open-vm-tools package is available to be enabled on
Cloud Vision Portal Instances. In order to enable the package: either SSH or login to the
CVP Node CLI to input the following commands which enable the included open-vm-tools
package:

systemctl start vmtoolsd

To ensure the open-vm-tools package is available after reboots, we can configure it to start
at boot of the CVP Instance by inputting the following line:

systemctl enable vmtoolsd

Verification command to see open-vm-tools package started on CVP

[root@CVP2017-2-3 ~]# systemctl status vmtoolsd

Under the VM Guest Information it now will state that VMware Tools is installed and
running.
