THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS

The Pursuit of Happyness is a 2006 American drama is directed by Gabriele Muccino. The main
characters of the film are: Will Smith as Chris Gardner, his five-year old son Jaden Smith as
Christopher and Thandie Newton as his wife Linda.

The film tells the story of Chris, a salesman trying to make money by selling bone scanner
machines in San Francisco to doctors and medical centers. Many problems come into his life,
but he is a positive and ingenious person that knows how to deal with the situation and works
hard to accomplish his goals.

The most emotional scene takes place in the middle of the film, when things are getting worse
and Chris has no money at all. He can’t afford to pay the renting of the house and, in
consequence, he and his son have to spend a night in a public bathroom lying on toilet paper.
This scene shows how worthless and miserable their life is, but as well, the hope and
happiness that they strive to achieve.

I totally recommend this film because it shows how hard life sometimes could be and that is
important to never give up because even in the worst conditions, like in Chris’ situation, you
can still succeed in life.
