Live it Out
Live it Out
DESCRIPTION
‘Loved’ is a series that thinks about how we are loved deeply by God and
how we are called to react to that, share our stories and tell others about
God’s love! This session thinks about how we can practically show other’s
God’s love through actions and how this can impact them.

This is just a fun game loosely linked to the theme of showing love to
others, with the aim of shaking off some of that extra energy!
Preparation:
Before the session begins, cut hearts out from sheets of paper. They should
be large enough to stand on and there should be one per person in your
group.
What To Do
table
chalk or whiteboard pen
loveheart sweets
What To Do
On one end of a table (or part of the floor) draw a heart shape. Make
sure you draw it in something that will wipe off such as chalk or
whiteboard pen.
In this game, the young people will take it in turns to take 3 loveheart
sweets and attempt to flick them inside the heart. They get a point for

Say
The goal in this game was the heart. Similarly, one of our goals in life is to
love God and to love others. Just like in this game, we may need to actively
focus on this as we can’t expect it to just happen and we may need to ask
the Holy Spirit to help us with it.
Chat
1. Can you think of anyone you know who often lives their life in love or
does loving actions a lot?
2. How do people show love practically to one another?

When we think of sharing faith with others, we often think of words and
stories and testimonies. Of course, this is part of it. However, a huge part of
sharing faith with others is also showing them God’s love through living it all
out – through actions and through love.

If you don’t want to show this video or don’t have the facilities to do so,
then you can find an alternative to this in ‘Love In Action’.

LOVE IN ACTION
10 MINUTES
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
paper
scissors
music
Leader’s Note:
This module covers the same content as the video found in ‘Lived Out In
Love’.
Say
If you call yourself a Christian or a follower of Jesus, then you have been
invited to live your life in love. A powerful love that makes a difference to
the world.
This is such a key part of being a Christian that Jesus said the greatest
commandment is to love God with all our hearts, souls and minds and to
love our neighbours as ourselves. This love can take all kinds of forms and
ultimately, it always points back to Him.
Sharing the good news of Jesus with others often happens through words,
but it also happens through actions. Actions rooted in a love for God.
What To Do
Break your young people into smaller groups and give each group one
of the following passages:
Acts 9:32-42 (Tabitha/Dorcas)
Luke 10:29-37 (The Good Samaritan)
Acts 2:44-47 (Early Church)
Get them to read the passage and then to pick out the way that love is
lived out in each of these passages. Encourage them to think about
who was on the receiving end of the actions and what the actions were.
After giving them some time for this, get some feedback from each
group so that everyone can hear about the various passages.

Below are summaries of each passage with key points you can review
with the group.
Summaries
Acts 9:32-42 (Tabitha/Dorcas) Her actions lived out in love were for the
needy in her community using skills that she had – skills of making
clothes.
Luke 10:29-37 (The Good Samaritan) The Samaritan’s actions lived out
in love were helping a stranger from a group they wouldn’t usually
interact with by meeting practical needs.
Acts 2:44-47 (Early Church) They lived out love by sharing what they
had and being sacrificial so that others in their community and church
could benefit.
Say
Of course, the ultimate example of living out love is Jesus. Throughout His
life he took the time to make space for those who he could help. Whether
that was through healing them, feeding them, teaching them or any other
number of things. Jesus lived out love by making the time and space for
anyone and everyone.

What To Do
Hand out a sheet of A4 paper and get the young people to fold it into
four.
Then, hand out a pen and get them to fill out each of the four areas
using words or doodles:
Who are the people they know? Who is in their community?
What skills do they have? (Eg. Good at listening to people, good at
football, good at baking, good at helping others)
What needs do they see people having? (Not enough food in other
countries, people in their communities struggling to clothe their
kids)
What do they own that they could share with others?
Once they’ve had a few moments to do this, get them to close their
eyes and read out the following questions slowly:
What skills do you have? And how could you use those to help
people in your community like Tabitha?
Who are those often left on the outside or those with practical
needs you could meet like the Samaritan?
What could you share with your family, friends, church or
community to help them out – even if its sacrifical? Like the early
church?
What would it look like for you to slow down enough to notice
others and love them, like Jesus?
Finally, get them to turn over their paper and using what they’ve
already thought about, get them to think about their answer to ‘How
can you point others to Jesus through actions rooted in love?’

PLAN A NIGHT!
15 MINUTES
Leader’s Note:
As you get to the end of the ‘Loved’ series, this could be a good time to
plan a gathering or party together as a group where they can invite their
friends along and put some of what they’ve been thinking about in action!
What To Do
Explain that you are going to plan a night together that they can invite
their friends to! (You may want to think if it takes place of a regular
evening you already gather or an additional one!)
Plan a party evening with drinks, snacks, games and then an
opportunity for people to share stories of what God has done in their
lives!
Some ideas are below:
Invite a well-known Christian in the area to talk about their faith.
For example, a politician, headteacher, policeman etc.
Several people from the youth group could share their stories.
You could have people speak or be interviewed and asked about
their story.
Have an ice-cream bar set up.
Have free arts and crafts.
Meet a need in the community such as providing a hot meal.
Spend a lot of time thinking about how this could be done and encouraging
the young people about how fun you can make it!
