INTRODUCTION
When Jesus was put to death by
being nailed to a wooden cross,
wicked men thought they were
just executing a man who was
disturbing their way of life. They
did not realize that the cross was
planned by God from the
beginning of the world. Actually,

Apostle Paul wrote that the cross

became the wisdom of God by
which He brought to nothing the
understanding of the prudent (see
1 Corinthians 1:17-31). That no
flesh should glory in God’s
presence. However, if anyone

3
should glory, let him glory in the
Lord. Because to us Christ is
become the power of God, and
the wisdom of God.

CHAPTER ONE

GOD DEALT WITH ALL SIN

THROUGH THE CROSS

Through His Son’s death on the

Cross, the great Creator, God was
dealing with every person’s sin,
suffering and sorrow. Jesus was
dying in the place of every
individual in the world.

What Jesus did on the Cross

brings the answer to all our
needs. The following four points
explain what I mean:

5
1. God Reveals His Power
Through The Cross

“For the message of the cross is

foolishness to those who are
perishing, but to us who are being
saved it is the power of God”
(1Corinthians 1:18), and in
Romans 1:16 we read: “For I am
not ashamed of the gospel of
Christ: for it is the power of God
unto salvation to everyone that
believeth; to the Jew first, and
also to the Greek.”

6
2. God Shows His Love On The
Cross

“But God demonstrates his own

love for us in this: While we were
still sinners, Christ died for us”
(Romans 5:8)

3. God Removed Our Sorrows

On The Cross

“Surely he took up our infirmities

and carried our sorrows, yet we
considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted”
(Isaiah 53:4)

7
4. Jesus Took The Punishment
For Our Sins On The Cross

“But he was pierced for our

transgressions, he was crushed for
our iniquities; the punishment
that brought us peace was upon
him, and by his wounds we are
healed … We all, like sheep, have
gone astray, each of us turned to
his own way; and the Lord has laid
on him the iniquity of us all”
(Isaiah 53:5,6). 1Peter 2:24-25
talking of Jesus says: “Who His
own self bare our sins in His own
body on the tree, that we, being
dead to sins, should live unto
righteousness: by whose stripes ye

8
were healed. For ye were like
sheep going astray; but are now
returned unto the Shepherd and
Bishop of your souls.”

We have been healed. We have

been justified through the cross
of Christ. Today we are called the
righteousness of God because the
Lord became sin for us (2
Corinthians 5:21). We now have
an eternal entrance into the
Kingdom of God. It is written that
we are seated with Him in the
heavenly places. And that our
citizenship is now in heaven, from
whence we look for the second
coming of Jesus (Philippians 3:20)

9
CHAPTER TWO

NEW RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

THROUGH THE CROSS

Because God is so holy and

righteous, sin separates us from
Him. No one with sin in their
hearts is able to be in His
presence (Psalm 66:18). So, not
only by dying on the Cross did
Jesus suffer for our sins in our
place; but also He made it
possible for us to know God
personally and to experience the
love, peace and joy which
fellowship with Him brings. In
that:

10
1. We Become Acceptable To
God Through The Cross

“God made him who had no sin to

be sin for us, so that in him we
might become the righteousness
of God” (2Corinthians 5:21)

2. We Receive Forgiveness
Through The Cross

“For he has rescued us from the

dominion of darkness and brought
us into the Kingdom of the Son he
loves, in whom we have
redemption, the forgiveness of
sins” (Colossians 1:13-14) Jesus
Christ has also become our
advocate who intercedes for us

11
before the Father day and night
(see 1John 2:1-2).

3. We Become Members Of
God’s Family Through The
Cross

“Both the one who makes men

holy and those who are made holy
are of the same family. So Jesus is
not ashamed to call them,
brothers. He says, ‘I will declare
your name to my brothers; in the
presence of the congregation I will
sing your praise’” (Hebrews 2:11-
12 see also John 1:12).

12
CHAPTER THREE

FREEDOM THROUGH THE CROSS

Jesus’ death on the Cross was a

great victory for us. Because God
dealt with our sin on the Cross, it
means also that all the misery and
suffering which is a result of sin
was also dealt with. The Cross has
therefore won great freedom for
us! We have received:

1. Freedom From Satan

“And having disarmed the powers

and authorities, he made a public
spectacle of them, triumphing
over them by the Cross”

13
(Colossians 2:15 see also
Colossians 1:13).

2. Freedom From Past Sins

“So if the Son sets you free, you

will be free indeed” (John 8:36 See
also Colossians 2:13)

3. Freedom From Present Sins

“For sin shall not be your master,

because you are not under the
law, but under grace” (Romans
6:14)

14
4. Freedom From Sickness

“This was to fulfill what was

spoken through the prophet
Isaiah: ‘He took up our infirmities
and carried our sicknesses’”
(Matthew 8:17 See also 1 Peter
2:24).

5. Freedom From The Curse Of

The Law

“Christ redeemed us from the

curse of the law by becoming a
curse for us, for it is written,
‘Cursed is everyone who is hung
on a tree’” (Galatians 3:13 See
also Deuteronomy 28:15-68).

15
6. Freedom From The Judgment

“Then Christ would have had to

suffer many times since the
creation of the world. But now he
has appeared once for all at the
end of the ages to do away with
sin by the sacrifice of himself. Just
as man is destined to die once,
and after that to face judgment”
(Hebrews 9:26-27)

7. Freedom From Everlasting

Death

“For God so loved the world that

he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life” (John

16
3:16) Jesus Christ made it crystal
clear that He is the way, the truth
and the life. He said that no one
makes it to the Father except
through Him (John 14:6).

To reject Jesus is to reject eternal

life with God. To reject Jesus is to
sign eternal contract with death.
The Bible says that God has given
to us eternal life, and this life is in
His Son. So, whoever has the Son
of God has eternal life, and
whoever does not have the Son
abides in death (1 John 5:11-12)

17
CHAPTER FOUR

LOVE AND JUSTICE MET AT THE

CROSS

The Cross is the place where the

love of God and the righteous
judgment of God met. His
righteous judgment demanded
the death penalty for sin – the
shedding of blood. His love met
His own demands and Jesus, the
Son of God, died in our place. The
Bible says, “But God demonstrates
his own love for us in this: While
we were still sinners, Christ died
for us. Since we have now been
justified (made just as if I’d never

18
sinned) by his blood, how much
more shall we be saved from
God’s wrath through him! For if,
when we were God’s enemies, we
were reconciled to him through
the death of his Son, how much
more, having been reconciled,
shall we be saved through his life!
Not only is this so, but we also
rejoice in God through our Lord
Jesus Christ, through whom we
have now received reconciliation”
(Romans 5:8-11) God therefore
wills it that all should be saved (1
Timothy 2:4). Prophet Ezekiel also
wrote that He does not delight in
the death of a sinner.

19
CHAPTER FIVE

THE CROSS IS THE CENTRE OF

HISTORY

The Cross of Jesus Christ is the

centre point of mankind’s
existence on earth. From the
moment the first man and woman
sinned, (see Genesis 3), it was
pre-planned by God that Jesus
would die on the Cross (Genesis
3:15). From that time on, people
looked forward in faith to what
God promised He would do on
the Cross to save them. Today we
look back and, by believing in
what Jesus has done for us on the

20
Cross, receive forgiveness and
new life. The Bible says that if you
shall confess with your mouth the
Lord Jesus, and shall believe in
your heart that God raised Him
from the dead, “thou shalt be
saved.” (Romans 10:9)

I therefore invite you to accept Jesus

today, if you’ve never done that.
There is no greater decision you can
make than having Christ in your heart
and life. Below is a prayer to help you
connect with Jesus:

21
"Our Father Who is in
heaven, in the name of Jesus.
I come to you this hour for
forgiveness. God I am sorry
for I have lived a life full of
disobedience. I have always
gone my own way. Forgive
me Lord. This hour I accept
Christ in my heart. Lord
Jesus be now and forever my
Lord and Savior. I desire to
walk with You all the
remaining days of my life. I
now believe that I am a child
of God according as it is

22
written in John 1:12. I am
born again. In Jesus name I
pray.
Amen.

If you’ve made this prayer, you

are now born again. Welcome
to God’s family. Please write to
me through the contacts below.
It will be great to connect, and
especially to know that God
used this book to reach out to
you. God bless you.
