2. Rukmini Devi Arundale (1956)

3. Sanjukta Panigrahi (1975)

Contribution: Popularized Odissi dance nationally and internationally.

Contribution: Performer and promoter of Bhojpuri folk theatre, member of Bhikhari Thakur's team.
3. Nepal Chandra Sutradhar (2024 (Posthumous))
Dance Form: Chhau (West Bengal)
Contribution: Chhau dancer and mask-maker preserving traditional Purulia art.
4. Joynacharan Bathari (2025)

Contribution: Popularized Dimasa folk dance nationwide through decades of performance.
5. Manjamma Jogathi (2021
Dance Form: Jogathi Nritya (Karnataka)
Contribution: Manjamma Jogathi is a renowned performer of Jogathi Nritya, a folk dance form of North
Karnataka. She has played a pivotal role in preserving and promoting this traditional art form. Notably, she
became the first transgender woman to be appointed as the president of the Karnataka Janapada Academy,
the state's top institution for folk arts.
6. R. Muthukannammal (2022)
Dance Form: Sadir (Tamil Nadu)
Contribution: R. Muthukannammal is a seventh-generation Sadir dancer from Viralimalai, Tamil Nadu.
Sadir, an ancient dance form, is considered the precursor to Bharatanatyam. She is recognized for her
dedication to preserving this traditional art form and is the last surviving practitioner among the 32
Devadasis who served at the Viralimalai Murugan temple.
7. Badrappan M (2024)
Dance Form: Valli Oyil Kummi (Tamil Nadu)
Contribution: Badrappan M is an exponent of Valli Oyil Kummi, a traditional folk dance form from Tamil
Nadu. He has been instrumental in preserving and promoting this cultural heritage through his
performances and teachings.
