Quantitative analyses
100 - Intro to Quantitative analyses
Figure out the meanings of numbers
Implement next steps
Help others make decision based on those numbers
Step 1: Structure
The interviewer expects you to ask for data. Show the creativity about other factors that haven't mentioned that can impact the
final result.
Look for issues that weren't mentioned but might affect the answer
Always request the real data before making estimation of the number
When to ask? Ask when you finished the structure step
Step 3: Calculations
Find the soft spot between precision and efficiency. If rounding does not affect the result, ask for rounding. Make sure no mistake
One math mistake is fine, don't overthink it. Don't do it so often. Do a quick reality check
Your friend wants to create a high-end coffee shop micro-kiosk (~2m2) in airports. How would you analyze whether this is a good idea
or not?
How many cups of coffee would they need to sell in order to break even their investment in two years?
310 - Structure
Step 1: Come up with a number that you can get to it (calculation or ask for data) and that number can get you to the final answer
Step 2: Look at everything you have again, come up with 1 number you can get to that you know can help you get there
E.g.
1. Gross profit 🟰 ➖
Price Variable costs
2. Investment and 2 years fixed cost 🟰 ✖️
2 Fixed costs ➕ Investment
3. Cups of coffee needed to break even 🟰 Fixed costs and Investment ➗ Gross profit
