INTRODUCTION TO THE STARTER CONFIGURATION


Customers have the option to request a Starter Configuration to be deployed in their Test
environment of Oracle Cloud Applications. The Starter Configuration is an Oracle Cloud
Applications environment that has been developed using Oracle Modern Best Practices. It
is designed to showcase how end-to-end business flows work in Oracle Cloud Applications.
The Starter Configuration contains predefined configurations based on Oracle leading
practices, master and transaction data, and predefined usernames to help execute key
business flows in Oracle Cloud Applications. When customers request a Starter
Configuration, they have the option to add a basic level of personalization such as their
company name and a limited number of their employees, suppliers, customers, and items.
This will further enhance the user experience.

The Starter Configuration is complemented with learning content that is available on the
Oracle Cloud Success Navigator and is structured around the same Oracle Modern Best
Practices. For each Oracle Modern Best Practice, customers will find short business process
descriptions, business process diagrams, instruction videos, process step guides, persona
descriptions, Oracle leading practices and design decisions that underpin the
configuration, and commonly used KPIs and reports. Oracle Guided Learning is
implemented within the Starter Configuration. Customers can use Oracle Guided Learning
for in-application guidance when navigating through the process flows which Oracle
configured in the Starter Configuration in the customer’s Test environment of Oracle Cloud
Applications.

PREPARE FOR THE STARTER CONFIGURATION

1. Know your Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Environments


Every Customer Account will have two Oracle Fusion Cloud Application environments
provisioned by default – a Test environment and a Production environment. The Test
environment is used for designing and testing the configurations that will best meet your
business needs. When the configuration in the Test environment meets your business
needs, your implementation partner will move the configuration to the Production
environment.

2. Identify the Test Environment


You can only request deployment of a Starter Configuration in your Test environment. This
environment should be completely empty, with no prior settings such as:
• Enablement of Offerings
• Configuration of Enterprise Structure, Legal Entity, and Business Unit
• Change to Profile Options Setups
• Scheduling of additional ESS jobs
We recommend refreshing your Test environment by performing a Production to Test (P2T)
or Test to Test (T2T) refresh before requesting a Starter Configuration. Note that the source
environment must be empty.
You need to provide the URL of the Test environment as part of the process to request a
Starter Configuration.

3. Setup the Admin User for the Deployment


The Starter Configuration deployment process requires to be run by a user with
Administrator privileges in your Test environment. You or your implementation partner will
need to log into the Test Environment and create this user account.
1. Click on the Hamburger menu in the top left corner

2. Click ‘Security Console’ under ‘Tools’

3. Click ‘Users’

4. Click ‘Add User Account’

5. Capture the name, email, and set the user name and password.

6. Add the following roles by clicking on ‘Add Role’ and click ‘Save and Close’. The user
will get an email to login and reset the password.

7. Add the following roles to the user and save


• IT Security Manager

• Application Implementation Consultant

• Application Diagnostics Administrator

8. Run the ‘LDAP’ process to activate newly assigned roles. Click on the Hamburger
menu in the top left corner.

9. Click ‘Schedule Processes’ under ‘Tools’

11. Search with ‘Retrieve Latest LDAP Changes’ and click on the button ‘OK’

12. Make a note of the process number and ensure the process status is Succeeded.

REQUEST THE STARTER CONFIGURATION

1. Provide Your Test Environment Details


You can request deployment of a Starter Configuration from the Oracle Cloud Success
Navigator.
1. Log in to the Oracle Cloud Success Navigator
2. Click on the Hamburger menu in the top left corner
3. Click on the Starter Configuration

4. Click on the ‘Request a Starter Configuration’ link from the Starter Configuration

a) Select the Product Line, Pillar, and Country

b) Enter the User Name and Password of the Admin user

c) Enter the Environment Name

d) Provide the URL of the Test environment

2. Personalize Configuration
You can personalize the Starter Configuration by modifying some of the master data. The
Personalize Configuration UI shows you the list of fields that you can modify.

3. Preview and Deploy


Now, you are all set to deploy the Starter Configuration. Click the ‘Continue’ button and
verify the data. Click the ‘Deploy’ button to start the deployment process.

4. Accessing Starter Configuration Environment


When the deployment of the Starter Configuration in your Test environment is complete,
you will be notified via email. In the Success Navigator, you can view the Starter access
details by clicking on the ‘Access’ button. This will show you:
