GUIDELINE FOR STUDENTS SUBMITTING ASSIGNMENT

FACULTY: Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, P.Eng.

A good assignment writing capacity is necessary for an engineer to report to his/her superior. As managers judge
the quality of a project/task by looking at the report, so good report writing/Representation skill is a strong quality.
So I suggest students write their assignments carefully.

Please follow the following guideline

• Please Use A4 paper


• Use one side of the paper only
• Use standard margin
• Use pencil and scale to draw figures/schematic diagrams/ block diagrams
• Please write your ID at the top right corner of every page of your assignment.

Dear Students,

Please note, that your OPTIONAL assignment will not be evaluated if you do not staple it with your quiz
answer script on quiz day. (No need to submit it after exam, as it is purely optional)

Assignment Topics:

1) All Math problems of synchronous motor (Only solved problems) (Please see Previously
Uploaded sheet)
2) Why synchronous motor is not self-starting?
3) Starting principle of synchronous motor (Using damper winding and using wound rotor)
4) Vector diagram of synchronous motor for over, under and normal excitation under light load
and heavy load.
5) Derive the power and torque equation of the synchronous motor. Also, draw the power flow
diagram of the synchronous motor.
6) Define different types of torque available in synchronous motor.
7) List out applications of synchronous motor.
8) Difference between induction motor and synchronous motor.
