COURSE DESCRIPTION
Mata kuliah ini bertujuan membekali mahasiswa dengan pengetahuan Tata Bahasa Inggris dasar dan kemampuan untuk menerapkannya
dalam komunikasi. Materi perkuliahan meliputi sentence (simple and compound sentence & sentence elements), noun (classification), article
(definite & indefinite), personal pronoun, subject-√erbconcord, finite & non-finite √erb, the simple present tense & the simple past tense,
question, punctuation, dan spelling. Perkuliahan dilakukan dengan ceramah, dialog, diskusi dan penugasan di dalam dan di luar kelas dengan
menekankan pada learning-centredness. Penilaian pencapaian pembelajaran mahasiswa dilakukan melalui partisipasi perkuliahan,
penugasan, dan ujian akhir semester.
LO yang dikembangkan:
Sikap: (1) bertakwa kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa dan mampu menunjukkan sikap religius dengan menaati segala ajaran agama sebagai
manifestasi internalisasi kepatuhan terhadap aturan-aturan gramatik Bahasa Ingris le√el dasar yang dipelajarinya; dan (2)
menginternalisasi nilai, norma, dan etika akademik yang dikembangkan dari taatnya pada aturan-aturan kebahasaan bahasa Inggris yang
diwujudkan dalam berperilaku dalam kehidupan sosial.
Pengetahuan: menguasai konsep-konsep esensial kebahasaan Bahasa Inggris pada le√el dasar untuk berkomunikasi; dan (2) menguasai
konsep-konsep ketepatan dan kepatutan (appropriateness) dalam penggunaan bahasa Ingris,
Keterampilan: mampu menerapkan tata Bahasa Inggris untuk berkomunikasi baik lisan maupun tertulis secara lancar, akurat, dan
berterima sebagai realisasi pengetahuan yang di dapat dalam belajar Basic Communicati√e Grammar Skills pada semester I.
Kurikulum MBKM
Basic Communicative Grammar Skills is a mandatory course aimed at providing 1st year students of English Language Education with the necessary
knowledge and application in constructing simple structured sentences for communication. Students will be given plenty of practices in constructing
sentences with the hope that by the end of this course, they will be well-equipped with the understanding of the application of grammar to serve different
functions and in various contexts. Class activities cover lecturing, discussion, and assignments. Students will be asked to observe the use of grammar in actual
setting (authentic model), identify the functions and forms of a certain structure, discuss their ideas in a small group, and share with the class. Practices are
heavily focused on writing and building sentences. Students’ achievements are assesses through class participation, assignments, and the final examination at
the end of the course.
