The hidden word is HONEYMOON. It is a holiday for


the bride and groom after the wedding.
Activity 2 AFTER READING
When a couple get married, everybody wants good
luck for them. People do different things in different
countries to bring good luck to the wedding. In China,
some brides wear a ring with jade in it. This green
stone brings good luck.
The tradition of 1,000 little paper birds comes from
Japan. The bride makes these birds before the wedding.
This is now popular in Hawaii and in the USA.
Colour can be very important, too. In China and
India, the bride often wears a red dress, and in Japan
red food is popular at wedding receptions.
Of course, some things bring bad luck too. On the
day of a western wedding, the groom does not see the
bride before the ceremony – because it’s bad luck!
