BULLYING

●​ Natural Law Principle: It’s wrong to harm others.​

●​ Situation: A student is being mocked. Others join in or stay silent. One student
decides to stand up for them despite peer pressure.​

CHARACTERS:

1.​ MARIA - narrator


2.​ HILARYUS – the bully, aggressive, insecure deep down
3.​ ANGEL – the victim, quiet and kind
4.​ CHRISTINE– Hilaryus’ friend, laughs but feels guilty
5.​ EARL – bystander, afraid to speak up
6.​ YUAN – the one who finally stands up

HILARYUS (mocking):​
Uy, si genius oh! Laging mag-isa. Wala ka bang kaibigan? O baka takot lang sila sayo kasi weird ka?

CHRISTINE (laughing):

Pati ba naman lunch break, gusto mo mag-aral? Wala bang may gusto sayo?

ANGEL(softly):​
Wala naman akong ginagawang masama sa inyo..

HILARYUS (grabbing Angel’s notebook):​


‘Di ba obvious? Masama na yung mukha mo pa lang!

CHRISTINE (uncertain but still laughing):

Haha… grabe ka, Hilaryus!

Earl: (to hilary) Teka pre..

HIlary: Bakit? May problema ka ba?

Earl: A-ah, wala wala..

(Angel leaving the room. Pipigilan ni Hilaryus)

Hilaryus :​
Uy Angel, aalis ka na agad? Baka kailangan mo ng bodyguard… o tissue? (laughs)

Angel (weary):​
Wala akong ginagawang masama, Hilaryus. Tigilan mo na ako.
Hilaryus (snatches his notebook, rips a page):​
Edi kung wala kang kasalanan, bakit lagi kang parang talunan?

[Christine laughs nervously, Earl flinches. Hilarious pushes Angel to the floor.]

Angel (raises voice for the first time):​


Ano bang gusto mong mangyari?! Na umiyak ako? Na magsumbong ako? Na mawala ako?! Bakit ba
parang kasalanan kong mahina at tahimik ako?

[silence. Christine stops smiling. Earl looks down.]

Yuan (enters slowly, voice shaking in anger):​


Tama na ‘yan.

Hilary (mocking):​
Ikaw na naman? Defender ng mga walang silbi? Bakit? Kawawa friend mo?

Yuan:​
Kahit hindi ko siya kaibigan, alam kong MALI ang ginagawa mo! Di mo ba naririnig yung boses sa loob
mo?! Yung konsensya mo?

Hilary (defensive):​
Wala akong pakialam. Lahat naman ng tao may kanya-kanyang laban.

Yuan:​
Laban?! Ito ba para sa’yo ang laban? ‘Yung manira ng mahina? Natural law, Kai. Hindi ito rule sa pader —
ito yung boses na nagsasabi ng “Tama na.” Pero pinapatay mo na yung boses na ‘yon.

[ Earl finally speaks.]

Earl:​
Alam kong mali to. Alam ko, pero natakot ako.

[Yuan looks at Christine and Earl. They look down.]

Angel (teary-eyed):​
Okay lang ako…

Yuan:

Hindi ‘to okay, Angel. Hindi mo dapat tiisin ‘to. Walang batas na nagsasabing bawal maging mabait, pero
may batas sa loob natin na nagsasabing bawal ang manakit.

Yuan to Christine, Earl, and Hilary:

Hindi mo kailangan ng rules sa handbook para malaman kung kailan ka nananakit. Alam natin lahat ‘to —
kasi tinuro na sa atin ng konsensya natin. Pero pinili pa rin nating manahimik.

Hilary: Sorry..

Narrator:​
Ito ang batas na hindi mo mababali — ang batas ng likas na tama. Natural law. Nandiyan sa puso. Pero
kung pipiliin mong hindi makinig… ikaw na rin ang nagdesisyon.
[Teacher enters quietly, sees the situation.]

Teacher:​
May nangyayari ba?

Yuan (calm, direct):​


Opo, Sir/Ma’am. May matagal na pong nangyayari. At huli man, pipiliin na po naming itama.
