Learning Styles a. Visual - The visual learner takes mental pictures and
information given, so in order for this kind of learner to
retain information, oral or written, presentations of new
information must contain diagrams and drawings,
preferably in color. The visual learner’s cant concentrate
with a lot of activity around him and will focus better and
learn faster in a quiet study environment.
b. Kinesthetic - described as the students in the
classroom, who have problems sitting still and who often
bounce their legs while tapping their fingers on the
desks. They are often referred to as hyperactive
students with concentration issues.
c. Auditory - a learner who has the ability to remember
speeches and lectures in detail but has a hard time with
written text. Having to read long texts is pointless and
will not be retained by the auditory learner unless it is
read aloud.
d. Activist - learns by having a go.
e. Reflector - learns most form activities where they can

This Competency-Based Learning Material (CBLM) on "Servicing the Clutch
System" is designed to help learners develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and
attitudes required in performing clutch system servicing tasks. To use this material
effectively, begin by carefully reading the learning outcomes to understand what
competencies are expected from you at the end of the module. Next, take the pre-test
provided to assess your prior knowledge. This will help you identify which areas you
already understand and which ones need improvement.

After the pre-test, proceed to study the learning content in detail. The material
includes explanations, illustrations, and procedures related to the components,
operation, troubleshooting, and servicing of clutch systems—both mechanical and
hydraulic. Engage actively with the activities and exercises to strengthen your
understanding and practical skills. These may include labeling diagrams, identifying
parts, or answering guide questions.

Each section is followed by a self-check or formative assessment that you should

complete honestly. These checks are meant to reinforce your learning and ensure
you're ready to move on to the next topic. If available, apply your learning in a hands-
on workshop setting by performing tasks such as removing, inspecting, and
reinstalling clutch components under supervision.

Once you have completed all sections, take the post-test to measure what you have
learned and compare your results with your pre-test. This will help you track your
progress. Reflect on your experience, discuss it with your peers or instructor, and
seek feedback for improvement. Finally, review and complete the performance criteria
checklist to ensure all required competencies have been met. This CBLM may also

serve as preparation for summative assessments or national certification, so take time
to practice and review thoroughly.

If the learner have questions in using this module or any difficulty in answering the
tasks in this module, do not hesitate to consult the teacher of facilitator.

Thank you.

MODULE CONTENT

What I Need to Know

In this module, you will learn the essential knowledge required to service a clutch
system effectively. This includes understanding the purpose and function of the
clutch, identifying its major components such as the clutch disc, pressure plate,
flywheel, release bearing, and linkage systems (mechanical or hydraulic), and
recognizing their roles in power transmission. You will also be introduced to common
clutch problems, their causes, and basic troubleshooting techniques. The module
emphasizes safety procedures, proper handling of tools and equipment, and step-by-
step servicing processes like removal, inspection, repair, and reinstallation of clutch
components. This foundational knowledge is critical for performing accurate and
efficient clutch servicing in automotive applications.
