INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATE
1. Program an automated industrial conveyor system to count the packages moving on it.
Connect the devices to the PLC and develop a PLC Program using appropriate
software to perform the following sequence of operations;
a) When pushbutton switch S1 is pressed momentarily, and the capacitive sensor B1
is sensing an object, the single-phase motor driving the conveyor should turn in
the clockwise direction and the green indicator lamp L1 should turn ON.
b) When the photoelectric sensor B2 detects a box moving on the conveyor, the
counter should count the box and store the count. Once five (5) boxes are counted,
the red indicator lamp L2 should turn ON.
c) When pushbutton switch S2 is pressed, the single-phase motor and indicator
lamps L1 and L2 should turn OFF if they were ON, until the system is restarted
again.

Perform the following tasks:

1. Follow the following instructions to wire the components provided to the PLC;
a) Select the components for this exercise from the storage area.
b) Label the components as follows: S1, S2 for push buttons, L1 and L2 for
indicators, B1 and B2 for sensors, K1 for contactor and M1 for single-phase
motor.
c) Connect the components appropriately to the PLC.
2. Develop a PLC program using appropriate software according to the sequence of
operation given above.
3. Comment the devices in the PLC program as per the hardware labels.
4. Download the PLC program to the physical PLC provided.
5. Power the system and test it to confirm whether it follows the operation sequence
provided.
6. Troubleshoot your system in case of any errors during testing and correct them to ensure
it works as expected.
7. Save the PLC program.
