PROJECT PROPOSAL
I. TITLE: Silaw nga Mangipaay iti Panagkaykaysa: An Interfaith Film
Festival Empowering Students to Embrace Varied Religious Beliefs
II. RATIONALE

In our society, we have different kinds of religions, each with its own
beliefs and values. Some people, particularly students, are discriminated
against because of their religion, due to a lack of understanding about the
different beliefs in our religions.The classification of ‘world religions’ is highly
problematic because of its arbitrary construction, its exclusion of indigenous
religions, and its susceptibility to ideological manipulation. Recent scholarship
in the study of religion has dismantled the imperial edifice of ‘world religions’.

The recent events that have occurred are concerning, especially for the
students affected by these issues. In order to educate and enlighten students
who may not have enough knowledge about the differences in our beliefs and
values, the PEQNHS-SSLG officers have developed a plan to bridge the gap
between students of different faiths by organizing a Film Festival. Through this
event, students will learn about the importance of being open-minded towards
different religions. Following the film screenings, speakers from various faiths
will provide insights, and students will have the opportunity to share their
understanding of the films. The aim is to demonstrate that having different
beliefs and values should not be a barrier to creating a positive and inclusive
school environment. The focus will be on promoting kindness and
understanding, regardless of individual beliefs, and fostering a strong sense of
community.

school environment.
