The Gautrain, modelled on the London underground service – is described as a
R30 billion world-class rapid rail system and the answer to Gauteng’s public
transport challenges – is starting to live up to its promise. Gautrain’s operator,
Bombela Concession Company said services between Rosebank and Hatfield had
a punctuality record of 97,8% in its first 50 days. The good track record was
achieved despite two service disruptions because of cable theft. The Sandton-
airport link had a punctuality record of 99,6% over the same period.
