Individual Assignment – Application of MS Project Tool

In the project charter for a single-story housing project, the project manager has created a
detailed work breakdown structure (WBS), outlining the tasks required for the successful
completion of the project.

The project, scheduled to commence on 01.01.2024. The project manager has also
developed estimates for the time that would be needed to complete each task and the
relationships among tasks. Project plan and the initial estimates are included in the provided
Excel sheet.

Following tasks you want to be completed.

Task 1 – Prepare the initial project plan (IPP) using MS Project software. Generate Task List
(WBS), Gantt Chart which marks the critical path, and the Network Diagram.
(Assume, Finish to Start relationship for the tasks with no relationship)

Task 2 – Define all non-workings days on the standard calendar.

Task 03 – Prepare the resource sheet and assign resources for every activity.

Task 04 – Define a baseline for the project (Define IPP as the baseline) and track the project
with the actual scenario. You may make assumptions when data is not available.

Task 05 – Prepare a report of not more than 10 pages. The report should include the following
with relevant screenshots which are taken from the prepared project plan in MS Project
software. Please mention all assumptions that you made.

• Task List, Gantt Chart, and Network Diagram for initial project plan (IPP)
• Resource sheet and resource usage
• Project Overview
• Determine total estimated cost for the project
• Tracking Gantt chart

Task 06 – After completing the assignment submit the following two items.

• An MS Project file named ‘MS Project Assignment_Your ID’.


• A pdf document of the report named as ‘MS Project Assignment_Report_Your ID’.
