All applicants to the Faculty of Health Sciences are required to write the National Benchmark Tests (NBT) before
being considered for admission. Please read the following information carefully and ensure that you are familiar
with the process you need to follow. (Applicants applying for admission into the Graduate Entry Medical
Programme (GEMP) and/or Graduate Entry Physiotherapy Programme (GEPP) only, as well as applicants who
have already completed a bachelor's degree, or are in the final year of completing a bachelor's degree, do not
have to write the NBT).
Note that if you have applied for BSc Physiotherapy, BSc Occupational Therapy, Bachelor of Dental Science
and/or Bachelor of Oral Health Sciences, you are required to complete and submit the relevant job shadowing

NB! The NBT must be written IN-PERSON. Online test results will NOT be considered.
The tests were designed to measure students' levels of proficiency in Academic Literacy and Quantitative Literacy
(AQL) and Mathematics (MAT). For NBT details and bookings, please refer to www.nbt.ac.za. The NBT should be
written by 18 August. NBT results are valid for three years. Only the first attempt results of the most recent year
are considered. Please ensure that your ID number is correct on your Wits application and when registering to
write the NBT. We may not be able to retrieve your NBT scores if the ID number is incorrect.
NB! The NBT must be written IN-PERSON. Online test results will NOT be considered
Applicants can sit for the NBT on any of the available Pencil and Paper test dates between 10 May 2025 and 18
August 2025. Wits applicants who choose to write after this date may not be considered.
