Electrical system, instructions

1. When testing the electrical system, always used fully charged batteries in good condition.
2. Test the batteries with an acid tester. The battery disconnect switch should be turned off.
3. When fitting a battery, make sure that the battery is connected with the correct polarity.
4. When changing batteries connected in series, they must have the same capacity. They should also be of the same
age (equivalent) because the charge current required for a particular battery voltage changes with the battery age.
5. If a booster battery is required to start the engine, the instructions in the Operator's Manual must be strictly
followed.
See also: Safety.
6. Before testing the alternator or regulator, the batteries and all electrical lines must be checked for defect-free
insulation, loose contacts and corrosion. Any defects must be eliminated before starting the electrical tests.
7. For all testing of alternating current equipment, use "secure" connections in order to prevent sparks and voltage
transients. A loose cable may result in destruction of both the alternator and regulator.
8. Never disconnect the leads from the alternator while the engine is running as this could damage the alternator and
regulator.
9. Connecting the terminals of the alternator to ground can damage the alternator and regulator.
10. When removing or fitting components in the electrical system, the chassis connection should be interrupted or the
battery disconnect switch should be turned off.
11. For electric welding on the machine or on attachments on machine:

 Batteries are fully disconnected.

 Unplug or unscrew all plug connections on the central electrics.
 Connect the ground terminal of the welder directly to the part to be welded.

electronic unit (ECU)

Pro FET-components in electronic unit (ECU)

Profets are electronic components mounted on the cooling element of the electronic unit (ECU). They are used to switch
power to the various consumers. A profet has the property of a relay, i.e. control current switches the power. It also acts as a
fuse, i.e. on overlead (short-circuit) it disconnects. This component monitors the circuit and only releases again after
elimination of the fault.
NOTE!
Profet 1 and 2 have special insulation and are only released via the ignition S1.

Checking a profet circuit

NOTE!
Some functions are only released when the engine is running, e.g. solenoid valves (D+ signal at X10804).

 Trigger signal for profet must be present.

 From software version (SW 3.21), as soon as an error occurs (short-circuit or open circuit) in the profet circuits
"Solenoid valve drive pump, forward", "Solenoid valve drive pump, reverse" and "Servo pressure disconnect", this is
stored and the function remains disconnected.
 The profet checks the circuit in particular for open circuit before triggering the function. This means that a problem
(open circuit) is only detected and stored if it is present before the profet is triggered, and not on an open circuit
during power to the profet/consumer.

To check a profet, the following steps must be followed:

Op nbr

1. Remove the lead to the consumer from the plug, e.g. cable 11402 "Solenoid valve drive pump, forward" from plug
X114.

2. At pin 02 of plug X114, apply a load of at least 3 Watt e.g. "Direction indicator, front right" (21 Watt) on X10905.

3. If the flasher lights when the function "Solenoid valve drive pump, forwards" is activated (with the engine running),
the circuit is in order.

ECU 2, error codes and diagnostic functions

Two levels/modes of Error Code can be displayed in the instrument panel.

 Level 1: Run time diagnostic for the operator

 Level 2: Service diagnostic for the mechanic

Description
Messages (Error Codes):
If a detected error is to be displayed it is sent to the instrument panel. The user must acknowledge that he has received the
message by pressing “9”. If the error persists after a restart the error is again displayed on the instrument panel.
Storing of Error Codes:
Detected Errors with last time of appearance (operating hours) is stored in Eeprom. There is no difference between Level 1
and Level 2.
Identification of Error Code:
A four digit number is preceded by an “E” (e.g. E0805; E0806; E3107)
The first two digits indicates the respective function (e.g. 08 = solenoid valve hydrostatic pump forward Y8)
The last two digits indicates the respective failure:

 05 stands for short to ground (short circuit)

 06 stands for open load (open circuit)
 07 stands for over temperature

Level 1, Run time diagnostic for operator

Run time diagnostic is performed during the normal operation of the machine.
Diagnostics can be run in two modes: enable/disable in Menu 4.2 field 1 of programming instruction ECU 2 (see SB
387CWL4K)

 Displaying of Error Codes disabled (not visible for the operator)

 Displaying of Error Codes enabled (visible for the operator)

Mode: Error Codes disabled

 Error codes are not visible in the instrument panel for the operator
 Error codes are stored only into the Eeprom

Mode: Error Codes enabled

 Some Error Codes can be displayed on the instrument panel

 Each Error Code has to be acknowledged by pressing key “9” on the keypad before the next code can be shown
 If the error persists the code will be displayed when restarting the machine

Level 2, Service diagnostics for mechanics

Performed when the machine is at service and an error has occurred. In this mode active input signals and possible errors on
the outputs are displayed on the instrument panel.
Access to the Service diagnostic Level 2 is possible when following the procedure below.

1. Switch battery main switch on

2. Ignition switch in position “P”
3. Press joystick button “N” at the same time as turning the ignition key into position “1”. (keep pressing joystick
button “N” for at least 3 seconds)
4. Press key “5” and “#” at the same time
5. Enter code “372” and confirm by “#”
6. This process must be finished after maximum 60 seconds. Faulty operation in the sequence 3, 4 and 5 exceeding
the time limit or leaving ignition switch position "1" cancels the possibility to enter Service diagnostics. In this case
switch the battery main switch off and repeat the sequence from point 1.

Menu structure
1. Inputs
are signals ECU received from different components e.g. switches, sensors.

 Analog signals
When selecting an input signal in the analog menu the system reads the status of the signal and presents it on the
instrument panel. The result is presented as Voltage (prefix “U”), Percent (“P”), and Temperature (“C”) or for coolant
level “E” (empty) or “F” (full). The presented temperatures are for engine temperature 50–115 °C and for hydraulic
oil temperature 40–95 °C.
 Digital signals
When selecting an input signal in the digital menu the system reads the status of the signal and present it on the
display. The result is presented as ‘on’ for activated signal and ‘oFF’ for deactivated signal

2. Eeprom
When selecting Eeprom menu with “3” every single error detected since last reset is displayed. Scrolling up or down for the
detected errors by pressing key “1” or key ”2”.
When selecting an error code with “3” the latest time for detection of that error is displayed.
3. Reset
The stored Error codes are reset by following the steps below:

1. select reset by pressing “3”. Display shows “no rES”

2. by pressing key “1” or “2” display shows “rESEt”
3. All stored errors can now be deleted with “3”. The display shows “no Err”

4. Outputs
When an output is selected under this menu it is possible to test that output signal.

1. Select “outputs” from the main menu and press “3”

2. Go to a single item (e.g. 114_2) by pressing key “1” or “2” several times
3. Select an item (e.g. 114_2) by pressing key “3”
The following functions can be shown by pressing “1” or “2” and selected by “3”:
“ACt” (means activate), “dEACt” (means deactivate) and “tESt” (means test).

 Selection: “ACt”
Functions are activated, display shows “ACt”. If the function is powered on the respective pin e.g. 10.65
Volt can be measured. If there is a open circuit on the respective pin e.g. 11.65 Volt can be measured (no
power is supplied to the consumer). If there is a short circuit the voltage go to nearly 0 Volt. To deactivate
the function press “1”, display shows “dEACt”, and press “3” = function stops. Attention: all functions
selected with key “3” stay powered if not every function is deacticated via “dEACt” .
 Selection: “tESt”
Selected function is activated and deactivated in a frequency of one second, display shows “PASS”. If there
is an open circuit display shows “oPEn”. If there is a short circuit to ground display shows “SHort”. The test
function can be stopped by pressing “*” for 2 seconds.

4. Pressing “*” return to the upper menu.

Navigation within the Menu:

Figure 1
Menu structure

 Navigate between main chapters (Inputs, Eeprom, Reset, Outputs) by pressing key “1” for horizontal left and key “2”
for horizontal right.
 Navigate between the sub chapters (Analog, Digital) by pressing key “1” for horizontal left and key “2” for
horizontal right
 Navigate between single items within main chapter or sub chapter by pressing key "1" for scrolling down and key

Marking connector/pin description

The various parts of the electrical system are connected via multipin connectors which makes the components easily
replaceable. All connectors and components are marked in the circuit diagrams with the complete designation. The cable
harnesses also include connectors for components e.g. the instrument panel which are marked with the component
designation 9 in the circuit diagram.
NOTE!
Connectors with 3-digit numbering are directly connected to the electronics unit (ECU).

Connectors with 2-digit numbering are part of the machine.

The designation is marked on the connector and coded as follows.

All connector housings have a small web at pin 1, see diagram pin X115 (arrow).

Figure 1
Connector X115

The coding pin is on the pin which carries the connector designation, e.g. for connector X115, the coding pin is on pin 15,
see diagram connector X115.
NOTE!
Exceptions are connectors X106 and X116.

On connector X106, the coding pin is pin 5.

Connector X116 has no coding pin.

Cable markings 370 Service Information 2014/3/10
Profile:
CWL, L45B [GB]

Cable markings
All leads are marked according to the circuit diagram. The 1st to 3rd digits are the designation of the main component. The
last two digits are the pin designation.
Example
11512: Connector 115, Pin 12
2702: Connector 27, Pin 02
601: Solenoid Y6, Pin 01
208: Relay K2, Pin 08
A position figure is allocated to each pin of a connector. The start and end of the lead have the same position figure. The
position figures are given next to the pins on the connector. To find a lead end, search in the lead set for the position figure
allocated at the lead start.
Example (see diagram)
Connection to M8,Lead 801,Pin 01 has position figure 209
The same position figure 209 is found at the connection to the connector X112, Lead 11209, Pin 09.

Figure 1

Connections within the leads

Figure 2

1. Splice point
2. Horn

Connections between leads are indicated by a splice point.

The leads listed with position figures at the splice point are connected together.
The line before/after a position figure means that it is an incoming/outgoing lead.
The designation means: Connection of lead 601 to component H6 (horn), terminal 1.
