This is the Semester 1 Mid-Semester Report and Linear Interim Report. It will show marks and comments for all
courses scheduled in Semester 1 and comments for courses scheduled linearly.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding classroom assessments, please contact the teacher directly.
Attendance is a summary of student absences from September 4, 2024, to November 14, 2024.
CLE 10 is an off-timetable, linear, career education course required for graduation. Some Universities will count
this course towards a student's overall GPA average. The course is run mostly online using Microsoft TEAMS and
ChatterHigh (an online career platform); all assignments are submitted to TEAMS or completed on ChatterHigh.
We bring in guest presenters to speak about curricular topics and often host mandatory monthly assemblies.
Matthew is making satisfactory progress in this course because they have are not completing their Daily Quizzes
on Chatterhigh.

Please see the report for EFP WRITING 10 (and EFP LITERARY STUDIES 10)
EFP WRITING 10 (and EFP LITERARY STUDIES 10) Term: 80% (B)
Course Dates: 03/09/2024 to 28/01/2025
Jessie Miller
In English First Peoples 10 Literary Studies & Writing so far, we have focused on assessing the authenticity of
texts; outlining, writing, and revising paragraph compositions; using the conventions of First Peoples diction; and
speaking and listening skills -- particularly, respectfully exchanging ideas and collaboratively building on the
thoughts of others through Socratic Seminars.
Students were invited to practice their reflective thinking and to take ownership over their learning by
determining their own curricular strengths and areas for growth. As Matthew did not complete this exercise, my
comments are below.
Strength: Learning to build on the thoughts of others to create meaningful dialogue about texts.
Area for Growth: Demonstrate valuing identity and voice by reviewing topics and themes important to First
Peoples and connecting them to texts.
PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION 10: FITNESS FOCUS Term: 90% (A)
Course Dates: 03/09/2024 to 28/01/2025
Mr. Kevin Sandher
Students have worked to understand the basics of developing a workout program. In addition, students have
identified their individual needs and tailored their programs to achieve their goals. We have looked at the FIT
principal and discussed other important health topics such as sleep and nutrition.
This student has brought a positive attitude to class and been able to adhere to their individual program. If they
can stay disciplined they will see positive results. An area for improvement is to ensure that they are prepared to
stagger their workouts in order to have active rest days.
Keep up the good work.

Matthew has been working very hard to catch up with the material that he had missed during absence from class.
He has tried as much as he could to make up for any missed assessments. Students have so far finished working
on physics unit and we are almost done with biology. Matthew has done very well in virtual environment (online).
Students occasionally work on online assignments which go more in depth on topics we cover in class.
To date in Spanish 10, students have continued to develop the following skills:
1) Recognize how choice of words affects meaning and recognize the relationships between letter patterns,
pronunciation, and meaning.
2) Comprehend key information and supporting details in speech and a variety of other texts, including short
books (readers) for beginner language learners.
3) Narrate stories that we develop as a class through repetition, both orally and in writing.
4) Analyze regional cultural practices of various Hispanic communities and their role in shaping identity, with a
focus on various popular songs, and with a study on films in Spanish.
5) Recognize Indigenous perspectives and other ways of knowing, with a focus Truth and Reconciliation, and on
Mexico's Day of the Dead celebrations.
From Matthew:
I have strengths in communication with my classmates. I am able to understand more text in depth. I struggle
with analyzing text and using the right choice of words to form sentences.
From Raoul:
Although Matthew appears to enjoy the class, he is struggling with Spanish, and is often absent from class or late
when he is present. I am concerned that Matthew is not putting as much effort into his learning as he could. His
quiz and timed write results are satisfactory but could improve, and he has not taken up opportunities to seek
extra help from me or to redo these quizzes and timed writes. He was also not prepared to present his group's
first Cultural Project (reviewing a film in Spanish) by the deadline. Out of class, Matthew has not engaged with the
online Garbanzo exercises and stories (for which he has a student account), which are a great (and hopefully fun)
way to get more practice outside of class time.
Please encourage Matthew to attend class regularly, arrive on time, review his materials (especially by doing "ping
pong" translation of the stories we practice in class), seek help from me, and to redo quizzes and timed writes
when he feels ready.
