Surface area and Volume -Formulas

The document provides definitions and formulas for calculating surface areas and volumes of various three-dimensional shapes, including cuboids, cubes, cylinders, cones, frustums, spheres, and hemispheres. It emphasizes the difference in units for surface area (cm², m²) and volume (cm³, m³), and notes that while surface area may change when a solid is transformed, volume remains constant. Additionally, it includes guidelines for calculating the surface area and volume of combinations of solid objects.

Surface Areas & Volumes

Surface Area: It is the sum of the total exposed area of a three dimensional solid object. It’s unit can be cm2, m2 etc.
Volume: It is the amount of space occupied by an object. It’s unit can be cm3, m3, etc.

Combination of Solids PLEASE KEEP IN MIND

Shape Formula
 When a form of solid is converted into another one,
surface area may change but volume remains the same.

................. h ..................>
< ............ Area 4π r 2 + 2 π r h Hence, we equate the formula of volume of the other object,
to the value (in numbers) of the volume of the original object

 Please make a note: Units for volume is written as

take the sum of the volume of all the objects involved.
