ADVENTIST MEN'S MINISTRIES WEEK OF PRAYER (April 27th – May 3rd)

Accra City Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Church

Theme: Created for Good Works, “The Legacy of the Faithful”

Special Focus: Mobilizing Men to Support the Lamb Shelter Project
for Juvenile Inmates

Introduction – Saved for a Purpose(Saved to Serve) Main Text:

Ephesians 2:8–10
Theme Thought: We are not only saved from sin but saved for service.
Illustration: A rescued person joining the rescue team.
Application: God saved us not just to sit in church pews but to join His
mission in the world.

Day 1 – SundayTitle: “You Are the Salt of the Earth”Text: Matthew

5:13

Devotion: Jesus calls us to be the salt of the earth—a powerful symbol in

ancient culture. Salt preserves, flavors, and heals. As Adventist men, we are
called to preserve righteousness in our homes, flavor the world with
Christlike character, and bring healing through compassion and justice.Jesus
warns that if salt loses its taste, it becomes useless. Spiritual stagnation,
compromise, and distraction can dull our Christian witness. As men, we must
remain connected to Christ through prayer, the Word, and community.

Illustration:Salt adds value and prevents decay — just like godly men.Just
as a little salt transforms a bland meal, a man living out his faith can change
an entire family, workplace, or church.Be a moral and spiritual preserver in
your home, workplace, and society.

E.G. White Quote:

"The followers of Christ are to be the light of the world... He does not
approve of any self-satisfied endeavor to display superior goodness." —
Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing, p. 36

Prayer Focus:Thank God for salvation and ask Him to reveal your
mission.Ask God to make you an influence for good in every sphere. Lord,
help me to be salt in my family and community. May my life preserve truth
and bring healing where there is hurt.Father, restore my spiritual potency.
Help me to stay faithful, focused, and full of grace

DAY 2-Monday-Title: “You Are the Light of the World”Text: Matthew

5:14

Devotion:You are the light God uses to dispel darkness.Light exposes,

guides, and brings warmth. As godly men, our lives should shine in dark
places—our workplaces, our homes, and our communities. We are not just
called to reflect Christ's light but to embody it. Your witness as a man of God
is always visible. People are watching your actions, words, and decisions. Are
you living in such a way that others can see God through you?

Illustration:A lantern lighting a dark path and a single candle in a dark

room makes a difference. One faithful man in a corrupt system can shift the
atmosphere.A lighthouse is built to be seen—even in storms. Likewise, your
faith must be visible even when life gets rough.

Application: What areas of your life need to shine brighter? Ask God to help
you bring light to specific relationships or situations.Shine your light in
neglected places — like prisons, slums, and forgotten homes.E.G. White
Quote:
"The Lord has a work for each one to do. He has given to every man his
work." — Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 326

Prayer Focus:Jesus, shine through me. God, give me courage to live openly
for You. Help me not to hide my convictions or compromise my witness.
Ask God to show you where your light is most needed.

Day 3 – Tuesday Title: “No One Lights a Lamp and Puts It Under a
Basket” Text: Matthew 5:15

Devotion: Too many men hide their gifts, voices, or testimony out of fear,
shame, or discouragement. But God didn’t light your life just to have you
hide it. You were made to be seen and to shine. Your light shines brightest
through daily actions—kindness, honesty, self-control, courage, humility. You
don’t have to be famous to make a difference. Shine where you are.

Illustration: A lamp under a basket is useless. Likewise, our hidden

potential is wasted until it’s brought into the open. The moon doesn't shine
its own light; it reflects the sun. In the same way, we reflect the light of the
Son of God.

Application: Choose one act of kindness or service to do today without

seekingrecognition.
What has God gifted you to do that you've been hiding? This week, take one
step to use that gift for His glory.

E.G. White Quote:

"It is the privilege of every soul to be a living channel through which God can
communicate to the world the treasures of His grace." — Steps to Christ, p.
115"Let us remember that every act of mercy, every word of love spoken in
His name, is recognized and rewarded." — The Desire of Ages, p. 637

Prayer Focus: Help me, Lord, to shine through my actions. May my

behavior reflect Your character.
Lord, remove the fear or shame that causes me to hide. Empower me to
stand up and step out in faith.

Day 4 –Wednesday Title: God’s Workmanship in Progress for Good

Works

Main Text: Ephesians 2:10

Theme Thought: We are God's ongoing project being shaped for
service. Our good deeds should reflect God's character, not our own egos.God
has already prepared our good works — we must simply walk in them.
Illustration: A sculptor working on a rough stone, even if you feel
unqualified, God is still shaping you for impact.

Application: Every good work — including our support of the shelter — must
point to Jesus.

E.G. White Quote:"God takes men as they are... and trains them for His
service, if they will be disciplined to learn." — The Desire of Ages, p. 296
"The strongest argument in favor of the gospel is a loving and lovable
Christian." — The Ministry of Healing, p. 470
Appeal: Support the building of the Lamb Shelter at the Senior Correctional
Centre — through giving, praying, and volunteering.

Prayer Focus: Pray for humility and sincerity in all acts of kindness.Ask God
to mold your character for greater service.Ask God to help you walk daily in
the good works He has prepared for you.

Day 5 Thursday title – Mobilized for Mission: The Lamb Shelter

Main Text: Ephesians 2:10

Theme Thought: God is calling us to act, not just listen.
Let us arise and build — not just walls or roofs, but hope, dignity, and a
future for the lambs behind bars. God is counting on us. The next chapter of
their lives may begin with our act of obedience and compassion.

Illustration: The Good Samaritan didn’t just pray; he paid.

Application: Supporting the lamb shelter is not optional — it's a divine
opportunity to reflect Christ to these Juvenile inmates.
Supporting the shelter is a preordained work. Let’s walk in it together.

E.G. White Quotes:

"Christ's followers have been redeemed for service... We are not saved to be
idle." — Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 326Christ’s method alone will give true
success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with men as one who
desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their
needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, ‘Follow Me.’” (The
Ministry of Healing, pp. 143,)

Prayer Focus: Pray for a generous heart and active hands.

Make my life a beacon of hope for someone lost in darkness.

Day 6 – Friday Title: “That They May See and Glorify Your
Father”Text: Matthew 5:16
Devotion: The goal is not that people see us, but that they see God
through us. When our lives glorify God, we help others encounter Him. This
is the ultimate purpose of our influence. Our good deeds should reflect God's
character, not our own egos.
Illustration: A stained-glass window is beautiful, but only when light shines
through it. You are God’s-stained glass.

Application: Every good work — including our support of the shelter — must
point to Jesus.

E.G. White Quote:

"The strongest argument in favor of the gospel is a loving and lovable
Christian." — The Ministry of Healing, p. 470

Prayer: Father, let everything I do bring glory to Your name. Make my life a
testimony of Your goodness.

DAY 7 – Sabbath Title: “The Legacy of the Faithful”

Text: Revelation 14:13 (KJV)

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are
the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the
Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do
follow them.”

Devotion/ReflectionThis verse is not merely a comfort at funerals—it is a

divine declaration of legacy. The blessing is not just in the rest from earthly
toil, but in the impact that continues after the believer is gone. Those who
“die in the Lord” do not vanish into obscurity. Their works—of faith, love,
sacrifice, witness—do not perish. They follow them. They live on. This is
Heaven’s testimony that nothing done for Christ is ever wasted.

IllustrationThere’s a story told of a humble missionary who served faithfully

in a remote village for over 40 years. He taught children, prayed with the
sick, buried the dead, and preached the gospel under trees and in small huts.
When he died, only a few people could attend his funeral. But years later,
when his name was mentioned, entire generations traced their faith, health,
education, and hope back to his ministry. Though he had passed, his work
followed him.Likewise, Ellen White once wrote of William Miller, that “angels
watch the precious dust of this servant of God, and he will come forth at the
sound of the last trump” (Early Writings, p. 258). His works—though
seemingly unfulfilled at his death—did not die with him. They became
steppingstones for the Advent movement.

Application

What kind of works will follow you?

This is not about fame or recognition. It is about faithfulness in whatever
sphere God has placed you—be it as a chaplain, father, mother, student, or
neighbor. The kingdom keeps a record not of titles, but of testimonies lived
out in quiet obedience.A kind word spoken in a hospital ward.A prayer
whispered with a discouraged soul.A Bible study shared with a struggling
youth.A donation made to a cause no one else knew about.A child raised to
love the Lord.

These are the works that follow. Not because they earn salvation, but
because they are evidence of a life rooted in Christ.

As Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 15:58,

“...your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

Even in hidden places, your witness echoes beyond your life.

Prayer Focus

Pray for grace to labor in love, even when no one sees.Pray for the Holy Spirit
to produce lasting fruit through your service.Pray for faith to trust that
nothing done for Christ is ever in vain.Pray that your life would leave behind
works that glorify God and point others to Jesus.

E.G. WhiteQuotes

“Every act, every word, every motive, is faithfully chronicled in the books of
record kept in heaven.”
— Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 342
“Character is not made in the great crisis; it is only revealed. The great final
test comes at the close, but the character follows the man.”
— Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 80

These insights affirm that our everyday faithfulness is of eternal value. Our
works are witnesses, even in the judgment, of who we were in Christ.

Closing Thought

Your life is writing a story, not just for now but for eternity. And when your
chapter on earth ends, may your works rise and follow you—not as
monuments of pride, but as testimonies of faith, love, and service to the
Lamb.Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… their works do follow
them. Men of God, your influence matters. You are called to be salt—
preserving truth and bringing healing. You are called to be light—dispelling
darkness and guiding others to Christ. Step into your purpose, and let your
life reflect the glory of God.

Final Blessing: May the Lord bless you as you shine, preserve, and
serve — walking in the good works prepared for you before time
began. Amen.
