● It’s time to solve a question related to the perimeter of a
rectangle.

TS Q01: Find the cost of fencing a rectangular park of length 175 m and breadth 125 m at the rate of ₹12 per metre.

Knowledge points/Learning Evidences:

● Understanding how to find the cost of fencing a rectangular park by calculating its perimeter.

7. Tutor points:
● Focus on the question number and mention it.
● Read the question statement.
● Covey that this question can be asked for 2 marks.
● Convey that it is an NCERT textbook question
● Write and explain the solution.

Length (l) of the rectangular park = 175 m

Breadth (b) of the rectangular park = 125 m

Perimeter of the rectangular park

= 2(l + b)
= 2(175 + 125)
= 2 × 300
= 600 m

Cost of fencing the rectangular park is ₹12 per metre.

⇒ Cost of fencing the entire rectangular park = ₹12 × 600 = ₹7200

● Write and explain the solution.

Length (l) of the carpet = 30 m 75 cm = 30.75 m

Breadth (b) of the carpet = 80 cm = 0.8 m

Area of the carpet = l × b = 30.75 × 0.8 = 24.6 m^2

Cost of the carpet is ₹150 per square metre.

⟹ Cost of the entire carpet = ₹150 ×24.6 m2 = ₹3690

30. Tutor points:

Encourage students to ask doubts and address them
<Wait for doubts>
<If the students have no doubts then ask the students the following
question>

Q. What is the difference between a polygon and a regular polygon?

A. A polygon is a simple closed two-dimensional figure with at
least 3 straight sides or line segments. A regular polygon is a
type of polygon with equal side lengths and equal angles.
For example: In a rectangle, all sides are not equal. Hence it
is a polygon whereas in a square all sides are equal, so they
are regular polygons.

Number of fully filled squares = 3

Number of more than half-filled squares = 5
Number of half-filled squares = 2
Number of less than half-filled squares = 4

Area covered by the figure

Sweety runs around a square park of side 75 m

⇒ The distance covered by Sweety = 4 × 75 m = 300 m
Bulbul runs around a rectangular park with length 60 m and breadth
45 m
⇒ The distance covered by Bulbul = 2(60 m + 45 m) = 2 × 105 m =
210 m
