1- INTRODUCTION
Having knowledge in the English language, nowadays, has become a necessity and almost an
obligation for all professionals, due to the labor market suit being increasingly competitive.
English is a universal language, which has become the most commonly used language in the
business world. The learning of foreign languages, such as English, opens doors for professional
rise.

Nowadays, in dispute for a space in the labor market, who has knowledge in English, as well as
in other languages, has a differentiated curriculum, which stands out in a competition for a
vacancy, for example, and is closer and closer of becoming a minimum requirement for hiring.

Aiming to diffuse knowledge in the English language, colleges come by introducing English to
their timeline, by becoming a worldwide lanes, increasingly seeking to prepare the student for
the workforce.

Instrumental English, which has a focus to quickly empower students to read and translate
English texts with ease, is also included in the teaching schedule of technical schools, colleges,
because it is effective in their differentiated teaching methodology.

The importance of English language in bussiness


English for business gains more and more importance in the labor market, opening different
doors and creating numerous opportunities for those who dominate it on the tip of the tongue.
Having language fluency can be a significant differential in quest for career growth and
competitive highlight.

Knowing English speak today is no longer a differential in the curriculum, but it is indispensable.
The demand level has also grown and isn’t enough to have only basic notions of the language,
but to have complete mastery of reading, writing and conversation, as the relationships and
negotiations with the outer market in various areas are increasingly narrow.

They are numerous content, business, products that are offered to us by means of the internet
that are mostly in English. Those who do not master the language is oblivious to the news and
loses chances and opportunities in work life.

Benefits of Enhancing English

When you talk about learning English for professional growth, we can only notice benefits and
advantages, starting from the premise of the importance of being always in constant learning.
But if you are not yet convinced, they follow more benefits:

• Understand subjects that are treated in meetings and be able to give opinions and
negotiate
• Having a larger number of query possibilities of material
• Increase vocabulary and be fit to talk about any matter
• To have security to express yourself and make presentations in front of the public
• Having articulation to expose your ideas

Initially, English turned the official lanes of several countries due to England’s broad settlement
in large nations such as Canada and the United States.

However, the language began to be official in the business world, above all, from the 1950s
onwards, when transnationals expanded their business to other countries in order to increase
their profit or decrease labor costs — that is the known process as globalization.
In that period, the great economic power was the United States — it was the period when the
other nations were strongly weakened after World War II.

Thus, US corporations branched into other corners of the world and English, their official lanes,
has become popular and came to be taught as a second language in other countries.

Today, with the advancement of technology, the process of globalization expands more and
more and English became known as the business language, being required in the curriculum by
hundreds of companies.

Data showing the importance of English in business

• 80% of HR principals consider the language important for business as Robert Half.
• According to 91% of executives, English is the language of business as per British
Council.
• 60% of the spots currently available ask for fluency in English, according to Page
Personnel's study.
• Page Personnel's research still stated that English will no longer be a differential and
will turn a requirement in 10 years.

The English Language in the Professional Market

To do business around the world and connect with various cultures and countries are actions
that require language skills. In that sense, the language.
English has become the main requirement for professionals who aim to aim to rise in the
market and a door outside for companies that objective to market their products beyond
national borders. English is considered one of the languages most relevant in the world, and
with more than one billion speakers throughout the globe, is the most widely used language in
international communication, business, diplomacy, science, technology and entertainment.
According to a survey of the British Council institute (DEMANDS, 2014), only 19% of the
Brazilian population claim to have some knowledge in the language English, with 91% of
executives claiming that English is the primary lan- business For Heemann (2009), English
teaching for specific purposes brings a significant contribution to the professional apprentice,
as, with this method, he may obtain satisfactory results in the development of the activities,
seen that they must be developed in a tool oriented to the purpose intended to centralize
professional profiles required by market dynamics.
Alves (2008) highlights additional situations in which language use becomes essential:
fulfillment of international calls relevant to the company, participation in business meetings
such as interpreter and translator, and skill to perform functions such as reading,
interpretation, and typing correspondence business, including memos, letters, resumes, emails,
among others. In terms of qualifications and skills, the current market considers that language
as an officer and tongue franca, mainly in the business world, as state Sandri and Rodrigues
(apud BORGES, 2017). For those in the environment of negotiation or intends to be in the
international market, the knowledge of a second language becomes a mandatory priority and
is no longer considered only a secondary skill. Even in the context of barrier drop between
countries and increased travel to the outside, knowledge of relationships is required
internationals in foreign language. In addition, English is the language used in many sectors of
the global economy such as finance, trade, technology, among others.
According to EF English Proficiency Index (THE BIGGER, 2021) search the skill in the English
language can increase by up to 30% the salary of a professional in somesectors of the economy.
English language is an indispensable skill in the market of current work and its dominance can
bring several advantages to professional of an employee, as better employment opportunities,
rising wages and internal promotions. It is critical to invest in learning the language to to
stand out in the globalized labor market, as with the dominance of that language it is possible
that the practitioner expands his networking. The quest for an attitude aligned with current
changes grows each day. In that sense, Santana (2005) highlights the importance of
understanding the international market and its processes by means of imports and exports,
emphasizing the indispensable need for master another language so that this is possible.

Competitive Advantages of English Proficiency in Globalized Market


Understanding the importance of English language proficiency in the market globalized is
crucial to exceling in an increasingly connected economy and competitive. In addition to the
previously mentioned competitive advantages, there are other reasons why the domain of
English is valued in the labor market.
One is the suit that many of the top publications and various resources of business are written
in English, including books, magazines and articles. Another reason says respect to the suit
that English is widely used in technology and innovation.
Many of the leading technology companies are based in language countries English and as a
result many terms and jargon in technology are written in that language. Having language
proficiency can help professionals understand these terms and jargon more easily, allowing
better communication and collaboration on technology projects (THEGREE, 2021).
The domain of English can also improve competitiveness in the market for work. With many
companies operating globally, the ability to communicate in the language, fluently, can be a
deciding factor for hiring practitioners in international positions. In addition, according to
Bailey (2005), research reveals that the domain of a second language can result in a increase of
up to 30% in wage expectation.

It is important to highlight that English proficiency does not only bring competitive, but it can
also be valuable personal skill. Learning a foreign language can improve the ability to
communicate in general as well as the ability to understand different perspectives and cultures.
In addition, you can be a source of personal satisfaction, which contributes to increased self-
confidence and promotes the sense of achievement (THE BIGGER, 2021).
FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
After the presentation of the theoretical frame and data analysis, it is possible conclude that
the English language is critical to outside trade. English is the franca language of business and
is used as a means of communication between enterprises of different countries and cultures.
The increasing globalization and the expansion of companies to the market international make
knowledge of the English language increasingly necessary for professionals who wish to act in
the outer trade. In addition, the ability to effectively communicate in English is an increasingly
more valued by companies seeking to stand out in a highly competitive. In this regard, it is
impersonable that professionals acting in trade exterior have a good knowledge of the English
language, not only in terms generalists, but also in relation to the specific terminology used in
the industry.
In addition, it is important to invest in continuous empowerment and enhancement o
communication skill in English, either by courses, training or exchanges.
Therefore, the importance of the English language for outer trade cannot be underestimated.
Language domain is critical to realizing business successful internationals and for the growth of
firms in the global market
