Lesson plan for math
Lesson plan for math
I. Objectives:
At the end of this topic, students are expected to:
1. Identify shapes/figures that show symmetry in a line.
2. Draw the line of symmetry in a given figure.
III. Procedure:
TEACHER'S ACTIVITY
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Opening prayer
Everybody kindly please stand and let's pray
2. Greetings
Good morning children!
3. Energizer
Children remain standing for our Energizer
Do you know the song
Did you enjoy kids?
4. Checking of attendance
This time I will check your attendance
In row 1, Is there any absent? What about in row 2?
5. Classroom standard
These are the things you're going to do if you're inside the classroom. Kindly read.
•Sit properly
•Listen carefully to your teacher
•Do not talk to your classmate while the teacher is talking.
•Raise your right hand if you want to answer the question.
Okay class very good, I will expect that these classroom standards will be followed.
7.Review
Before we're going to proceed to our main discussion, let me ask you first about our previous
topic.
Yes, Jen.
Very good!
Our previous topic is all about three dimensional objects. Who can give an example of a three
dimensional object?
Yes Franco.
Very good
What else?
Yes Angelo.
Very good
B. Lesson proper
B1. Discussion
This morning we're going to discuss about symmetry. Kindly read class what is symmetry.
Symmetry indicates that when you draw an imaginary line across an object and the resulting parts are
mirror images of each other. It means that the left and right portions of the object are exactly the same.
Okay class look at these picture.
The image shows symmetry where we divide the butterfly into two equal parts. The left portion is
the mirror of the right.
Yes Ben.
Very good.
The line that divides the figure into two equal parts is what we called the line of symmetry. This is the
line that tests the symmetry of an object or figure.
The heart has one line of symmetry while the square has four lines of symmetry. In a square, we can
draw one line of symmetry either vertically, horizontally or even a slanting line to test if it is symmetric.
This picture class, do think it shows symmetry?
Some figures don't have lines of symmetry, whether we test it horizontally, vertically, or slanting. These
figures are what we call asymmetric.
This time class I will divide you into 2 groups. The row 1 wil be group number 1 and the row 2 will be the
group 2.
But before that were going to read first our activity's standards.
But before that were going to read first our activity's standards.
I have a colored star here class, and each colored stars corresponds to certain points.
Red star is equivalent to 5 points, yellow is 4 points, and blue star is 3 points.
Activity 2. Quiz
*First object
*Second object
*Third object
C. Generalization
Yes Nelson.
Very good!
Yes Boy.
Very good
IV. Assignment
Look for a symmetrical objects in your house and list it down. You can list as many as you can.
