I. Learning Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

 Define what an adjective is.


 Identify adjectives in a sentence.
 Use adjectives to describe nouns.
 Construct simple sentences using adjectives.

II. Materials Needed


 Whiteboard and markers
 Flashcards with nouns and adjectives
 Chart paper with sample sentences
 Worksheet for practice
 Short story/picture book (e.g., 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar')
 Crayons or colored pencils

III. Lesson Procedure

A. Introduction (5 minutes)
 Warm-up Game: "Describe Me" – Teacher picks an object (e.g., an apple) and asks
students to describe it.
 Guide them to words like "red," "round," "juicy" and introduce the term adjective.
 State Objective: “Today, we will learn how to make our sentences more exciting using
describing words called adjectives.”

B. Presentation (10 minutes)


 Definition and Examples: Write the definition on the board: "An adjective is a word that
describes a noun."
 Show examples: “The big dog.” → "big" is the adjective, "dog" is the noun.
 Visual Aid: Display a chart with pictures (cat, car, sun, etc.) and example sentences using
adjectives.

C. Guided Practice (10 minutes)


 Adjective Hunt (Interactive Board Activity): Show sentences on the board and ask
students to underline or highlight the adjectives.
 Use Flashcards: Pair students. Give one a noun card and the other an adjective card. Ask
them to form a sentence together and share with the class.

D. Independent Practice (10 minutes)


 Worksheet Activity: Fill-in-the-blanks with appropriate adjectives and circle the
adjectives in a paragraph.
 Creative Task: Show a colorful picture (e.g., a park scene). Ask students to write 3-4
sentences describing what they see using adjectives.

E. Wrap-Up and Review (5 minutes)


 Quick Recap Game – "Adjective Freeze": Teacher says a noun, students freeze and shout
out an adjective.
 Ask review questions: What is an adjective? Can you give me an adjective for “dog”?

IV. Assessment
 Observation during group and individual activities
 Completion of worksheet
 Participation in oral activities
 Optional: Exit slip – students write one sentence using an adjective

V. Homework (Optional)
