SCIENCE EXERCISE GRADE 6 – FORCE and ELECTRICITY

1. Look at the picture

a. This tool is called .......................................

b. It’s measure ................................................................................
c. The unit used is ........................................
d. Describe how this tool works!
..................................................................................................................................................................
..................................................................................................................................................................

2. Explain what is mass!

..................................................................................................................................................................

3. Mass is measured in .................................. or ..................................

4. Complete the paragraph using the words in the box.

5. Complete the paragraph using the words in the box.

kilograms weight newton mass grams

Weight and mass are different. ................................ is the amount of the matter in the object.

....................... is depend on the gravity. Mass is measured in ............................ and ..............................,

while weight is measured in .....................................

6. Read the statements. Write TRUE or FALSE

a. Mass is a force. _____________
b. Weight is a force. _____________
c. In science, weight is a force that can be measured in kilograms. _____________
d. The size of force can be measured in newton. _____________
e. Mass are affected by gravity, while weight aren’t. _____________
7. Explain how does seatbelt help to protect us inside a car!

..................................................................................................................................................................
8. Answer these questions

There are two forces acting on a canoe floating on water.

a. The force that is exerted by water is ......................................... ( upthrust / friction )
b. The force that is exerted by gravity is ......................................... ( mass / weight )
c. We can tell that the forces on canoe are balanced because the canoe ......................................................

9. Circle the correct word to complete the sentences.

Gravity is a force that pulls objects upward / downward.

Air resistance / Energy is a friction force againts the gravity, when

an object falls through the air. When a parachutist jumps out of a

plane, he falls very slowly / quickly at first because his weight is

greater than his gravity / air resistance. As he falls faster, there is

more air resistance and he slows down. When he opens the

parachute, the air resistance increases / decreases quickly and is

actually stronger / weaker than gravity for a short time, so the

parachutis moves upward and slows down.

10. Look at the table below. The table show how much an object with a mass in kg would weight in different
places. Count the weight on each places.
Planets Mass (kg) Gravity (N/kg) Weight ( N )

Sun 100 2700 ................

Earth 100 10 ................
Moon 100 1.6 ................
Venus 100 8.5 ................
Outer space 100 0 ................

a. What does the table suggest about the strength of gravity on Earth and on Venus?
..................................................................................................................................................................
..................................................................................................................................................................
b. Why would the object weight almost nothing in outer space?
..................................................................................................................................................................
c. Which one has the strongest force of gravity? Explain why!
..................................................................................................................................................................
11. Draw an arrow to show the process of seeing.

We can see objects because .................................................................................................................

A to medium B

13. Draw a simple diagram to show the difference between reflection and refraction.

Reflection Refraction

a. Mirror, shiny surfaces and still water are good / bad reflectors of light.
b. When a light ray hit a mirror, it is reflected different / same angle as it hits it.
c. Refraction happens when light hit on different mass / medium.
d. When refraction happens, the light will be bent / bounce.

14. Draw a circuit diagram with symbols.

Three lamps, two cells and an open switch.
15. Look at the picture.
a. What type of circuit is in circuit P , Q , R ?
...................................................................................................
b. If another lamp was added in series to circuit P, explain with
reasons how this affect the brigtness of the existing lamps.
