Solving Inequalities
4 x 4 Puzzles

Directions:
Print out the desired puzzle and pass out to students to cut out the pieces. The
students must match up the solution to the original inequality to correctly com-
plete the 4 x 4 grid. Three versions of the puzzle are included,(with corresponding
answer keys) 1 with 4 graphics, 1 with 9 graphics, and 1 with 16 graphics. As the
number of graphics increases, so does the difficulty, as it doesn’t help the students
put the grid together as much.

Another option is to laminate the puzzles, and cut them out prior to giving to
students so that the puzzles can be reused.

What has been successful for usis to give points for correctly completing the
puzzle, and extra credit points for the first few groups that finish. The Roman
numerals are there so that you may check the accuracy faster.
