All social transformation is built on the foundation of law and legal change. This indicates that
pursuing a legal career can aid in the development of a country. I believe that a lawyer has the
power to make or break a society. Some may argue that the obligation is tremendous, but the
satisfaction is equally significant. Kimberley Motley, a prominent lawyer who represents human
rights claims in civil and criminal situations, is one of my greatest inspirations. She asserts that there
is a lack of justice and that laws are not being used for their intended purpose - to protect – in one of
her speeches. The law exists to protect and defend people, not only to punish them, that is how it is
employed most of the time. It holds everyone to the same standards, regardless of race, gender, or
religious beliefs. Motley's ground-breaking work has shown me that attorneys can make a significant
difference in the lives of people who are ignorant that laws exist to protect them, which is one of the
many reasons I want to be a lawyer.
When I first started my LLB, I was certain that I would pursue a Master's degree because a bachelor's
degree in law would not be sufficient to have a comprehensive understanding of the subject. I have
endeavoured to obtain professional skills by working as a Legal Assistant at CKW, in addition to
establishing my academic background in law with an LLB degree from The University of London.
While I anticipate completing my bachelor's degree shortly, I am excited to begin my LLM
programme so that I may supplement my current academic knowledge with advanced levels and
improve on my current strengths. This Master of Law course will help me achieve my academic goals
while also advancing my career, personal, and professional goals.
Significantly, I have been a member of the debating teams at all of my universities throughout my
academic career. Debating as a junior and later as an intercollegiate has given me the courage and
drive to pursue a career as a lawyer and actively participate in litigation. I also interned at Rising Sun
Institute to assist children with special needs, which gave me a sense of responsibility, time
management skills, and the ability to comprehend the needs of various age groups. My local
community has always meant a lot to me, which is why I did multiple internships with local NGOs,
which included everything from assisting adolescents to caring for senior citizens.
The key reason for choosing postgraduate study in the United Kingdom (UK) is that it has a high
reputation for world-class education and research. Universities in the United Kingdom are known
around the world for their rich educational culture and world-class facilities. I believe that with the
quality education and exposure provided by institutions in the United Kingdom, I would have
acquired abilities that would enable me to find better employment opportunities when I return to
Pakistan. The United Kingdom has a long history of coping with overseas students from various
cultures and educational backgrounds. Students in the United Kingdom have the opportunity to gain
the skills, information, and connections necessary for a successful profession.
The QMUL School of Law is a pioneer law school among the renowned Russell Group Universities
and one of the top ten law schools in the UK. Teaching is offered by internationally recognised
academics with ties to national and international governments, industry, and non-governmental
organisations. Learning law in this academic setting will set me apart from the crowd. QMUL
graduates have a high rate of employment possibilities, which will help me achieve my career goals.
Every module outlined in the course, will improve my legal writing and research skills while also
enhancing my profile and allowing me to go above and beyond. At QMUL, I'll have the opportunity
to participate in internships and other legal events with dedicated law career counsellors, as well as
network and socialise at the Postgraduate Law Society's events. Studying law at the postgraduate
level will allow me to obtain a more in-depth grasp of the legal system and the ramifications of its
decisions. The LLM degree's worth and versatility are the key reasons I want to succeed in this
sector. A legal career path is promising with passion and dedication, and I hope to study at your
institution, which presents law as an intellectual field in its own right, allowing me to acquire the
analytical, reasoning, and discussion abilities necessary for success beyond postgraduate level.
Finally, I believe that receiving an opportunity to study LLM Human Rights at QMUL will help me
envision my future in Pakistan when I return after completing my degree, especially as Pakistan has a
common law legal system with infrastructure influenced by British colonial control. This helps to
make perfect sense for me to study in the United Kingdom since it will make it much easier for me to
acclimate to the legal platform in Pakistan when I return, but with the additional exposure and
enlightenment, I will undoubtedly be several steps ahead of my competitors.
