Latest contracts
A three-year frame agreement awarded by Petrobras
to GE Oil & Gas’ drilling and production business in
June is valued at more than $250 million and involves
the supply of 250 VetcoGray subsea wellhead systems.
The first of these wellheads, being manufactured in the
company’s Jandira plant in the state of Sao Paulo, was
delivered in July.
Several sizes of wellheads are being provided under
this agreement, including the field-proven VetcoGray
MS-700 – the industry’s first all-metal sealing subsea
wellhead system – and VetcoGray MS-800 Fullbore
models.
GE Oil & Gas also landed a contract worth more than
$11 million to supply four VetcoGray subsea wellhead
systems and running tool rentals to leading Brazilian
independent OGX Petroleo e Gas. The order, the second
under a four-year frame agreement with OGX signed
in December 2008, will include the first two MS-800
subsea wellhead systems to be delivered in Brazil, plus
two MS-700s. Some of the components and tools used
for MS-800 systems also can be used for the MS-700,
providing additional flexibility.
Due for delivery in December, the equipment will be
manufactured at the company’s facilities in Jandira and
Macaé.

by The Offshore Europe
Partnership, a joint venture between
Reed Exhibitions and the Society of
Petroleum Engineers, the overarching
conference theme this year was ‘Energy ergy at
a crossroads: making choices’.
Observing that the AECC’s main
auditorium and many of its conference nce
rooms were often packed out, Andersen rsen
said: ‘What I have particularly noted d
is that, as we had hoped right at the
start of this process, the debate around
und
the environment and the climate
has been in everyone’s discussions. A
recognition that the industry must engage
ourselves, and focus on minimising
our environmental footprint, while
continuing to provide energy to all. An
extremely important thing is also that hat it
has not been a discussion about oil and
gas or alternatives but oil and gas and nd
alternatives. Only if we drive both will we
take things forward.’
Justin Tadman, divisional managing ging
director of Reed Exhibitions and
co-chairman of the Offshore Europe
Partnership, said: ‘It was most
encouraging to see so many packed
aisles and stands at what was the largest
exhibition in the event’s history, with so
many new companies participating, and
to get such good feedback on how much
business was being done.’
Leo Roodhart (pictured),
2009 SPE president and
co-chairman of the Offshore
Europe Partnership,
described the conference
as ‘the best ever’ and said it
would be difficult to beat in
the years to come. ‘It proves
again that, if you offer quality, people will
appreciate this and come to what you have
to offer, even in what is a difficult time for
the oil and gas industry.’ The event was
very well organized and the quality of the
technical conference was exceptional, he
added.
