Subject: Request for Information Regarding CCTV Installation and Its Working
Condition at Raidurgam Police Station Under RTI Act, 2005
Respected Sir/Madam,
I, Praveen Babu Madharam kindly seek information under the Right to Information Act, 2005,
regarding the installation, functionality, and maintenance of CCTV cameras at
Raidurgam Police Station for the period from Feb 1st 2025 to April 5th 2025
Information Sought:
1. Details of CCTV Installation:
o The number of CCTV cameras installed at Raidurgam Police Station.

o Locations/areas within the police station where CCTVs are placed.

o Date of installation and last maintenance of these cameras.

2. CCTV Working Condition:


o Are all CCTV cameras functional and recording continuously as per
Supreme Court directives?
o If not, details of non-functional cameras and reasons for malfunction.

3. CCTV Footage Retention:


o As per the Hon’ble Supreme Court's orders in Paramvir Singh Saini v.
Baljit Singh & Others (2020 SCC OnLine SC 966), police stations are
required to store CCTV footage for at least 18 months.
o What is the footage retention period at Raidurgam Police Station?

o Is the footage from [Start Date] to [End Date] available? If not, provide
reasons.
4. Maintenance and Inspection Records:
o Copies of records showing maintenance, repairs, and periodic checks of
the CCTV system.
o Name and designation of the officer responsible for CCTV monitoring.
5. Compliance with Supreme Court & NHRC Guidelines:
o Has Raidurgam PS complied with the Supreme Court’s order in Paramvir
Singh Saini case (2020) to install CCTVs with audio-video recording?
o If not, provide reasons for non-compliance.

o Has the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) guidelines


regarding CCTV installation and transparency been followed?

24x7 recording.

the exemptions U/s 8 of RTI Act, 2005 and to the best of my knowledge it pertains to
your esteemed office in your statutory capacity as PIO u/s 5 (1) of RTI Act read with
5(4) and 5(5) of the RTI Act, 2005.
 The applicant kindly submits that if the requested information does not pertain to your
department, then it is requested to please follow the provisions of Section 6(3) of the
RTI Act, 2005 and kindly also intimate the applicant through registered/speed post to
whom you are forwarding / transferring the application as prescribed in RTI Act 2005.
 Applicant may be supplied information under proactive disclosure under section 4 (1)
(b) of RTI Act of your office / department.
 The applicant kindly submits that any attempt at frustrating an applicant from
submitting the application invites complaint under section 18(1) RTI Act – 2005. Such
complaints are dealt with seriously and compensation to the applicant can be
awarded.
