Laboratory of Industrial Measurement and Control Systems

GENERAL INFORMATION:

1. Laboratory Name: Laboratory of Industrial Measurement and Control

Systems
2. Field: Control Engineering and Automation (Electrical - Electronics)
3. Laboratory Type: Educational/Training

Part I. The Need for Investment

1. Global and National Context

Currently, the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is taking place vigorously
worldwide, characterized by rapid advancements in digital technology, big data, artificial
intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT). In this context, industrial measurement and
control systems play a pivotal role in automating production processes, increasing
productivity, and improving product quality. The core foundation of these systems lies in
accurate measurement and effective control—key components that enable intelligent,
flexible, and safe system operations.

In Vietnam, the demand for industrial modernization and smart manufacturing

development poses a significant challenge to the quality of the technical workforce. This
necessitates enhanced training in measurement techniques, control systems, and system
integration in industrial environments.

The knowledge of industrial measurement and control systems is a fundamental part of

the curriculum in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering and Automation, and
Mechatronics. Improving teaching quality, updating technology, and aligning with
industry needs are crucial to ensuring students can swiftly adapt to trends in digital
transformation and modern automation.

4. Training Orientation

This course provides students with foundational and in-depth knowledge of the structure
and operational principles of industrial measurement and control systems, including
sensors, measurement devices, controllers, and actuators. Based on this foundation,
students will gradually develop the ability to design, select, and integrate appropriate
devices and control solutions to meet the practical requirements of modern automated
systems.

Part II. Project Objectives and Content

1. Objectives

To help students reinforce their applied knowledge in an industrial environment through

exposure to integrated measurement and control systems, understanding the roles of
sensors, actuators, and controllers within the automation cycle. Students will also become
familiar with building, testing, and evaluating basic real-world measurement and control
system architectures.

2. Expected Training Outcome

Deliver core knowledge in sensors and industrial measurement and control systems to
approximately 650 students in the Control Engineering and Automation program and
some students from the Mechatronics program.
