Abstract :
As we all know, that today’s world is a busy world and life is a race, each and
every person is thriving to earn money and livelihood. And sometimes, due
to this chaos in professional life, people forget to notice and focus on their
personal life which sometimes may lead to mishaps and unwanted accidents.
Crime rate in this contemporary world is increasing at an alarming rate.
People who are getting targeted the most are the naive, humble and down to
earth people who don’t have much of the technical know-how knowledge and
are getting dragged into shady things. Small kids and children are the
foremost priority of these fraud peoples and news about child trafficking and
kidnapping can be seen or heard very often. Parents are too busy to look
after their children as most of the time, both then parents are working so as
to meet the growing expenses of their family and to meet the ends. They
cannot stay by their children all the time and monitor where they are going,
what they are eating, whom they are with, and look for any other potential
risks lingering around them. This is the only thing that results in child
trafficking and kidnapping. Unfortunately, this cannot be totally stopped but
their frequency can be reduced to some extent. In this high-tech world,
technology is increasing and so is the crime rate, this sign is enough for us
to make good use of our technological advancements to create some devices
or systems that can ensure safety of our loved ones upto some extent.

Introduction :
In today's world, the responsibilities of parenting have grown more complex,
especially when it comes to keeping children safe. For parents of young
children, ensuring their safety and well-being is an ever-present concern. The
fear of losing sight of a child, even for a moment, can be overwhelming.
Whether it’s a busy shopping mall, a crowded park, or even just the

4
neighborhood streets, the thought of a child wandering off is every parent’s
worst nightmare.

This anxiety is not unfounded; we live in a fast-paced world where accidents

can happen in the blink of an eye. Children, with their boundless energy and
curiosity, are naturally prone to exploring their surroundings. While this
sense of adventure is a healthy part of growing up, it also presents
significant challenges for parents trying to keep track of their little ones.
Traditional methods, like holding hands or keeping a watchful eye, often
prove difficult, especially in crowded or unfamiliar places.

The need for a reliable solution that gives parents peace of mind has never
been more apparent. Imagine a world where you could always know your
child's whereabouts, where you had the reassurance that they are safe, no
matter where they are. This is where child tracking devices come into play—
a modern, effective solution designed specifically to address the concerns of
today’s parents.

A child tracking device is a small, wearable gadget that can be easily

attached to a child’s clothing, wrist, or backpack. These devices use
advanced GPS technology to provide real-time updates on a child’s location,
allowing parents to monitor their movements through a smartphone app.
Whether your child is at school, playing outside, or on a family outing, you
can always stay connected to them. This technology offers a level of safety
and security that was previously unimaginable.

Beyond just tracking, many of these devices come with additional features
that are tailored to the needs of young children. For instance, some devices
include a panic button that a child can press if they feel scared or in danger,
instantly alerting their parents. Others offer safe zone alerts, notifying
parents if their child strays beyond a designated area. This added layer of
protection ensures that parents can respond quickly in case of an
emergency.

But the benefits of child tracking devices extend beyond just safety. These

5
devices also provide a way for parents to encourage independence in their
children while maintaining a safety net. As children grow, they naturally seek
more freedom to explore the world around them. With a tracking device,
parents can give their children the space to learn and grow, knowing they
can step in if needed. This helps foster confidence in children, allowing them
to develop important life skills while still being under the watchful care of
their parents.

In essence, a child tracking device is more than just a tool for monitoring
your child’s location; it’s a bridge between safety and independence. It gives
parents the peace of mind they need to let their children explore the world,
while always being just a click away. For parents who want to ensure their
child’s safety while supporting their growth, these devices are an invaluable
resource in today’s busy world.

Problem Statement :
Rising Incidents of Child Kidnapping

According to a report from the New Straits Times, out of 567 missing
children, 193 remain unaccounted for and are still under investigation. Many
of these cases stem from family conflicts, the pursuit of freedom, or children
running away with friends or romantic partners. (Bukit Aman CID
(Investigations and Legal) deputy director Datuk Law Hong Soon, June 4,
2016).

Insufficient Tracking Technology for Children

Parents find it challenging to monitor their children effectively, especially

6
when they are outdoors, without the aid of modern technology. It is nearly
impossible for parents to prevent potential lapses in supervision that could
occur as their children grow older.

Limited Options for Child Monitoring

There are very few applications available that allow parents to track their
children when they are out of direct supervision, which increases the risk of
kidnapping or children going missing.

Objectives :
Minimize Child Kidnapping with Tracking Systems

Since parents cannot always be physically present with their children due to
work commitments, a child tracking system can help reduce the risk of
kidnapping by enabling parents to monitor their child's location remotely.

Introduce Effective Tracking Technology for Child Safety

By utilizing GPS technology, parents can determine the exact location

(longitude and latitude) of their children, allowing them to keep track of their
whereabouts at all times.

Develop a Reliable Child Tracking System

The system will enable parents to monitor their children's movements and
current location when they are outdoors, providing greater peace of mind.

Literature Survey :
Child tracking devices have emerged as a vital tool for ensuring child safety,
leveraging GPS, GSM, and RFID technologies. Existing solutions include
location-based services (LBS) and proximity-based systems, each with

7
strengths and limitations. Research highlights accuracy, reliability, power
consumption, and cost as key considerations. Future directions include
wearable integration, AI-powered tracking, and robust data security
measures to enhance effectiveness and confidentiality.

Hardware Components Required :

Existing child tracking systems often require children to carry smartphones,
which can be cumbersome and potentially unsafe for school-going children.
This paper proposes a new system that addresses these limitations by
utilizing a more compact and child-friendly device. The proposed system can
be broadly divided into three main subsystems. The first subsystem consists
of the Arduino UNO R3 microcontroller, which serves as the core component
of the device. In developing this system, the Arduino UNO is connected to
GPS and GSM modules for functionality.
Components
Arduino uno

The Arduino UNO is essentially a circuit board designed for creating

electronics projects that involve coding. Built around the ATmega328P
microcontroller, it features a 16 MHz ceramic resonator, six analog inputs, a
USB port, an ICSP header, a reset button, and a power jack. Additionally, the
board includes 14 digital input/output pins, six of which can be used for PWM
output. All components necessary for supporting the microcontroller are
integrated into the board. To get started, simply connect it to a computer
using a USB cable, and use either a battery or an AC-to-DC adapter to power

16
it.

ARDUINO UNO

NEO GSM Module

The NEO GSM module, commonly based on the SIM800 or SIM900 chipsets, is
a compact and versatile component used for enabling GSM communication in
various electronics projects. It supports functionalities such as voice calls,
SMS, and GPRS data transmission, making it ideal for applications like
remote monitoring and IoT. The module utilizes a UART interface, allowing
easy connection to microcontrollers like Arduino. Operating within a voltage
range of 3.4V to 4.4V, the NEO module also includes a connector for an
external antenna, which helps enhance signal strength and overall
performance.

17
SIM900 GSM Module

The SIM900 GSM module is renowned for its reliability and is widely used in
electronics projects that require GSM communication. This module supports
both GSM and GPRS networks, enabling voice calls, SMS, and internet
connectivity, with data transmission rates of up to 85.6 kbps. It employs a
TTL serial communication interface, making it straightforward to integrate
with microcontrollers. Additionally, the SIM900 is designed for low power
consumption, particularly in sleep mode, which is beneficial for battery-
operated applications. With built-in TCP/IP capabilities, it allows for easy
interaction with web services, making it a versatile choice for a variety of
projects.

Methodology :

We are developing a wearable tool to track a student's location in real-time

and enable communication with parents in emergencies. The project involves
several key steps: first, we will interface the NEO 6M GPS module and the
SIM900A GSM module with the Arduino UNO. After successfully connecting
these components, we will program the Arduino to perform its intended
functions. Once the code is compiled in the Arduino IDE, we will upload it to
the microcontroller. Additionally, a microphone will be connected to the
SIM900A module to allow the child to communicate with parents during a
call. The device will feature two push buttons—one for sending an SMS to the
registered parent’s mobile number and another for making a call.

Using the NEO 6M GPS module, the device will continuously gather location
data (latitude and longitude) and relay it to the Arduino upon request. When
the SMS button is pressed, the Arduino will convert the location coordinates
into a Google Maps link and send a message to the registered number with
the text “I NEED HELP,” including the location link. The SIM900A module will

18
handle the transmission of this message and facilitate calls. To provide visual
feedback, an LED will be connected to the Arduino, indicating the current
action: it will light up red for calls and green for SMS transmissions

Improvisations

Current commercial systems often rely on technologies like Bluetooth and

Wi-Fi for communication, which have limited range. In contrast, our system
utilizes GSM technology, allowing for broader communication capabilities.
Additionally, many existing child tracking devices are bulky and cumbersome
for kids to carry, whereas we propose a compact wearable device that is
easy to use. Unlike existing systems that lack real-time calling features, our
solution includes the ability to call a designated mobile number (the parent’s
number). Furthermore, our device does not require internet connectivity and
is designed without a camera, ensuring that children can comfortably wear it
as a wristband in classrooms and exam halls.

This implementation allows for real-time tracking of the child's location and
easy communication with parents, enhancing safety and providing peace of

21
mind.

RESULT :
The parent is not possible to always stay beside of children as most of the
parents needs to go for work. By having this child tracking system, parents
can track the location of their children. In order to avoid the kidnapping
cases, the child tracking system is needed. The child tracking device utilizing
the Arduino UNO, SIM900 GSM module, NEO 6M GPS module, and a 5V
battery has proven to be effective in providing real-time location tracking
and communication capabilities The device continuously gathers GPS data,
allowing for accurate positioning of the child. When a predefined condition is
met, such as a specified time interval, the system automatically sends an
SMS containing the child’s location as a Google Maps link to the parent’s
mobile phone. The GSM module facilitates reliable communication without
requiring internet connectivity, ensuring that parents can receive updates
anytime, anywhere. This implementation demonstrates the potential for
enhanced safety and peace of mind for parents and guardian
