As we begin our holiday break, it’s important to balance rest and recreation with a touch of learning. Your
holiday homework is designed to be enjoyable and meaningful, helping you stay connected with your
studies while also allowing time for fun and relaxation.

Activity: Photosynthesis Experiment (Project)


>Take a potted plant and cover one leaf with black paper for 2 days.
>After 2 days, pluck the covered leaf and a normal leaf, and test for starch using iodine solution
(with adult supervision).
>Write your observations and explain why the covered leaf did not show starch.

1. What is photosynthesis? Write the equation for photosynthesis.

2. Explain the role of chlorophyll in plants. (Answer in 4-5 sentences)

Chapter 2: Nutrition in Animals

Activity: Digestive System Model (Project)


Create a simple model of the human digestive system using clay, paper, or any craft material.
Label the parts (mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine).
Write a short note (5-6 sentences) on the function of any two parts.

Questions:
1. What are the different types of teeth in humans? Write one function of each type.

2. Describe the process of digestion in the stomach. (Answer in 4-5 sentences)

Chapter 3: Heat

Activity: Heat Transfer Experiment (Project)


Take a metal spoon and a plastic spoon. Dip both in a cup of hot water (with adult supervision).
After 2 minutes, touch both spoons and note which one feels hotter.
Explain why one spoon feels hotter than the other (concept of conduction).

1. What is the difference between a conductor and an insulator? Give one example of each.

2. How does heat travel through convection? Explain with an example. (Answer in 4-5 sentences)

Chapter 4: Acid, Bases, and Salts

Activity: Litmus Test at Home (Project)


Collect 3 household items (e.g., lemon juice, baking soda solution, soap solution).
Test each item with red and blue litmus paper (available at a stationery store or with adult help).
Note the color change and classify each item as an acid, base, or neutral. Write your observations
in a table.

1. What is an acid? Give two examples of acids and their uses.

2. What happens when an acid reacts with a base? Explain with an example. (Answer in 4-5
