Hearing aids
People suffering from hearing loss may need to use hearing aids to help them hear better.
There are two main types of hearing aids, conventional hearing aids and bone conduction
hearing aids.

bone conduction
conventional
hearing aid
hearing aid

A conventional hearing aid is inserted in the ear canal of a patient. It consists of a

microphone to collect sound, an amplifier to make sound louder, and a speaker to send the
amplified sound to the ear canal.

Unlike conventional hearing aids, a bone conduction hearing aid is fixed behind the ear of
the patient. It collects sound and converts the sound to vibrations. Then, the vibrations are
transmitted directly through the skull to the inner ear.

a Describe how a person without hearing loss hear when sound enter the ear canal.
