Student Guide to Using Moodle

1. Logging into Moodle

1. Open your browser :


a. Open your preferred browser (e.g., Google Chrome, Firefox).
2. Enter the Moodle URL :
a. Type the URL of your institution's Moodle platform in the address bar.
i. Example: https://moodle.university.edu
3. Click "Login" :
a. After the homepage loads, click the "Login" button in the top-right corner.
4. Enter your credentials :
a. Input your username and password provided by your institution.
5. Confirm login :
a. Click the "Login" button to access your account.

2. Familiarizing Yourself with the Main Interface

1. The Homepage :
a. After logging in, you will see the main page displaying a list of courses you
are enrolled in.
b. Your name and profile picture (if available) will appear in the top-right corner.
2. Browsing Courses :
a. Courses are usually organized by semester or subject.
b. Click on the course name to view its contents.

3. Accessing Resources and Activities

1. Course Content :
a. Inside the course page, you will find several sections. Each section contains:
i. Resources : Such as PDF files, PowerPoint presentations, videos, or
external links.
ii. Activities : Such as assignments, quizzes, forums, and more.
2. Viewing Content :
a. Click on the title or link of the activity or resource you want to access.
b. Some resources may need to be downloaded to your device, while others can
be viewed directly online.

4. Uploading Assignments

1. Locate the Assignment Activity :


a. Find the "Assignment" activity within the course.
2. Open the Assignment :
a. Click on the assignment name to open it.
b. Read the instructions carefully to understand the requirements.
3. Upload the File :
a. If the assignment requires file submission:
i. Click the "Add Submission" button.
ii. Choose the file from your device using the "Choose File" button.
iii. Ensure the file is in an accepted format (e.g., PDF or DOCX).
b. Add any additional comments if required.
4. Submit the Assignment :
a. Click the "Save Changes" button to submit your work.
b. Confirm that a success message appears indicating the assignment has been
submitted.

5. Participating in Forums

1. Find the Forum Activity :


a. Locate the "Forum" activity within the course.
2. Open the Forum :
a. Click on the forum name to open it.
b. A list of discussion topics will appear.
3. Add a New Post :
a. Click the "Add a New Topic" button.
b. Write the subject and content of your post.
c. Attach a file if allowed.
d. Click the "Post" button to publish your response.
4. Follow Discussions :
a. You can reply to other posts by clicking the "Reply" button below each post.

6. Taking Quizzes

1. Locate the Quiz Activity :


a. Find the "Quiz" activity within the course.
2. Open the Quiz :
a. Click on the quiz name to open it.
b. Read the instructions carefully before starting.
3. Answer the Questions :
a. Answer the questions one by one.
b. Some questions may be multiple-choice, while others may require written
answers.
4. Finish the Quiz :
a. After completing the quiz, click the "Finish Attempt" button.
b. Ensure you submit your answers before the time runs out.

7. Tracking Academic Progress

1. Access Reports :
a. Click on your name in the top-right corner.
b. Select "Progress" or "Reports".
2. View Statistics :
a. You will see statistics about your performance in different courses, such as:
i. Percentage of completed activities.
ii. Grades for assignments and quizzes.
iii. Instructor feedback.

8. Updating Your Profile

1. Access Your Profile :


a. Click on your name in the top-right corner.
b. Select "Profile".
2. Edit Your Information :
a. Update your personal details, such as email, phone number, profile picture,
etc.
3. Save Changes :
a. Click the "Update Profile" button after making changes.

9. Logging Out of the Platform

1. Sign Out :
a. After finishing your session, click on your name in the top-right corner.
b. Select "Logout" to ensure you exit securely.

notifications.
