edge projects that are more than just academic exercises – they are glimpses into the future. From robotics
to artificial intelligence, our students' creations are a testament to their dedication, curiosity, and the world-
class education they receive at VTU. However, this fest is not solely about circuits and algorithms; it's also
about the human touch, the beating heart of culture. Our students, hailing from diverse backgrounds, unite
to create a kaleidoscope of cultural performances that captivate the soul. Dance, music, drama, and art

Rules and Guidelines

Painting (solo) Themes: “Heritage of Mysore”

 Eligibility: The competition is open to all Students affiliated to VTU.


 Registration: Online registration and no spot registration Artwork
 Specifications: Artworks must be created using acrylic, oil or water
based colors only.
 Submission Deadline: The deadline for submitting artworks is 2 hrs 30
min. Late submissions will not be considered.
 Judging Criteria: Artworks will be judged based on creativity,
technique, adherence to the theme, and overall impact. The decision of
the judges is final and binding.
Rules and Guidelines

Photography (Solo)

Eligibility: The competition is open to all Students affiliated to VTU.


 Theme: The theme for the competition is “Nature”. All submitted photographs
must relate to and reflect this theme.
 Registration: Online registration and no spot registration.
 Photograph Specifications: Photographs must be in digital format.
 Submission Deadline: Duration for competition is 3hrs.
 Late submissions will not be considered.
 Location: VTU Campus, Mysore.
 Judging Criteria: Photographs will be judged based on composition, creativity,
relevance to the theme, and technical skill. The decision of the judges is final and
binding.

Rangoli (Group)

 Team Composition: Each participating team must consist of 2 members.


 Theme: The competition will have a specific theme, that is
”Sankranthi Celebration”. All Rangolis must reflect this theme.
Materials: Participants are required to bring their own materials for creating the
rangoli. Only traditional rangoli materials such as colored powders, rice flour,
flower petals, etc., are allowed.
 The use of artificial colors or materials is strictly prohibited.

Rangoli (Group)

 Team Composition: Each participating team must consist of 2 members.


 Theme: The competition will have a specific theme, that is
”Sankranthi Celebration”. All Rangolis must reflect this theme.
Materials: Participants are required to bring their own materials for creating the
rangoli. Only traditional rangoli materials such as colored powders, rice flour,
flower petals, etc., are allowed.
 The use of artificial colors or materials is strictly prohibited.
 Design Area: Each team will be assigned a designated area for creating their
rangoli . Size of the rangoli should not exceed [6feet by 6feet]. Markings on the
floor must be respected, and rangolis should not extend beyond the allotted
space.
 Time Limit: The competition will have a time limit of [3hrs]. Teams must
complete their rangoli within the allocated time.
 Judging Criteria: Rangolis will be judged based on creativity, adherence to the
theme, color contrast, intricacy, and overall visual impact. Judges will also
consider teamwork and collaboration among group members.
Rules and Guidelines
Collage (Group)

Team Composition: Each participating team must consist of 3 members.


Theme: The competition will have a specific theme, which will be Robotics. All
collages must reflect or interpret this them
Materials: Participants are required to bring their own materials for creating the
collage. Only traditional collage materials such as magazines, newspapers,
scissors, glue, and other craft supplies are allowed. The use of digital elements or
pre-printed images may be allowed depending on the theme.
Time Limit: The competition will have a time limit of 3hrs.Teams must
complete their collages within the allocated time.
Design Area: Each team will be provided with a designated workspace for
creating their collage. The size of the collage should not exceed 4x4 ft. Teams
should not encroach upon the workspace of other teams
Collaboration: Collages should be a collaborative effort, with each team
member contributing to the final piece. Teams are encouraged to communicate
and work together to bring diverse perspectives to their collage.
Judging Criteria: Collages will be judged based on creativity, interpretation of
the theme, visual impact, use of materials, and overall composition. Judges will
also consider how well the team collaborated and utilized individual strengths.
Rules and Guidelines
Skit

The team participating in the skit should have a minimum of 5 members and a
maximum of 8 members.
The teams will be allowed a maximum of 3 minutes to prepare the stage and 12
minutes to perform.
The Props will be arranged by the teams themselves (General furniture like
table/chairs will be made available at event venue).
No use of slangs and un-parliamentary language in the skit. Skit must not
contain violence or inappropriate language or actions.
The Competition will be judged on the basis of the script, facial expressions,
and creative use of props, stage mannerism, co-ordination, voice modulation and
overall performance
Each group member must have a role in the skit.
Outline the Story: Even if your skit is very small, it should have the beginning,
middle and end.
 Skit must not contain violence or inappropriate language or actions and also
should not hurt any religious sentiments.

Mime

Each team can have 6 - 8 members


The teams will get a situation and a preparation time of maximum 5 minutes.
Time limit is 2-3 minutes for each team. Negative points for exceeding the time
The act should not contain any dialogues, lip sync, props or music.
No act shall contain any offensive, obscene, disrespectful actions or gestures.
The act will be immediately stopped and the entry will be disqualified, if these
instructions are not followed.
Points will be given on the basis of innovation, depiction of the situation, team
work and expressions.

Dumb Charades (3 Members)

It is a word Guessing game where there will be 3 participants who will make a
team among themselves.
Each player draws a slip from the bowl and acts out the phrase shown using
hand signals and body motions but no spoken words. (MIMING)
One person should give the gestures and the other two should guess the title.
The teams will be allowed a maximum of 2 minutes to perform.

Band Wars
An Institution can register only one team.
Maximum of 7 participants in a team.
The on stage performance should be Minimum 20 mins and maximum 25
minutes.
Teams exceeding the time will attract minus points.
Teams
At least 1 Female participant to be part of the band.
The Musical instruments set should be brought by the team itself.
Any genre of music can be performed.
The participants/teams should be ready and available 10mins prior to their slot.
Judging Criteria - not limited to Harmony, Tempo, Pitch, Crowd Interaction,
Time Limit, Own composition and Creativity will be one of the key judging
factors.

Fashion Show
An Institution can register only one team.
It is a team event. A team can have 12- 15 members. (Including participants,
choreographer and coordinator).
Time limit for every team would be 8 minutes (Including setup and the
performance both).
Theme selection is open to the team.
A green room would be provided for the changing purpose.
Should carry their tracks in pen drive.
Vulgarity is strongly prohibited. Any form of obscenity will lead to
disqualification of the team from the contest.
Use of cigarettes, alcohol and any unfair means is strongly prohibited.
Teams will be judged on costumes, theme, walking stance and attitude.
Decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Group Dance

Time limit is 6-8 minutes for each performance.


Negative marking for exceeding the time limit.
Each team may have 6 - 8 members.
Choice of songs is open to the participants.

Group Singing

Only one entry per Institution is allowed.


Maximum 6 singers in a group and maximum number of accompanists playing
instruments shall be three.
The group songs should be in Kannada or Hindi.
Maximum time allowed for the group song is 10 minutes which does not
include setting time for 5 minutes.

Group Classical Dance

One team from each Institution is allowed.


The classical dance can be from any of the approved schools of dance such as
Kathak, Kathakali,
Bharatanatyam, Xatriya, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam, Odissi etc.
Participant will be allowed up to 8 (6+2) minutes including time of preparation.
Judgment will be based on the qualities like tal, technique, rhythm, abhinaya or
expression, costumes, footwork and general impression.
Description of the dance should be submitted on spot.
Pre-recorded pen drives must be submitted during the registration.

Solo Dance

One participant from each Institution is allowed.


The solo dance may include classical / filmy dance.
Participant will be allowed up to 8 (6+2) minutes including time of preparation.
Judgment will be based on the qualities like tal, technique, rhythm, abhinaya or
expression, costumes, footwork and general impression.
Description of the dance should be submitted on spot.
Pre recorded pendrives must be submitted during the registration itself.

Solo Singing

One participant per Institution is allowed.


Movie songs are allowed.
Karoke will not be permitted.
Time limit is maximum of 5minutes.
Two accompanists are allowed.

One participant is allowed from each Institution.


Time limit is 3+2 minutes.
Political/Religious comments are not permitted.
Participants are allowed to use Kannada/English/Hindi language.

One team of maximum of eight participants is allowed from each


college.
Time limit 3+2 Minutes
Must be Kannada and English language
Religious/racist statements not allowed
Vulgarity in any form will lead to disqualification of team.

One team of maximum of five participants is allowed from each


college.
First stage will be written preliminary round.
Further rules will be given on spot.

Prathikruthi ( Counterfeit Products Exhibition )
Students can bring their own any number of counterfeit products
available in market and can display in exhibition in any category of
goods (Minimum 20 Products) (No Financial Assistance will be
given)
Display of Product should be based on number of products and
the explanation given by the participants about the products.
