PRE-READING ACTIVITIES

Materials:
Flash/show the video presentations
Instructions:
1. Ask the students what the title of the story is.
2. What lesson does the story teach us?
3. Who are the characters in the story?
4. What problem did the characters encounter?
5. What was the most memorable part of the story?
2. Guess me Next
Practice students to guess what will happen next to the story.
Materials:
Pictures (predicting what will happen next)
Instructions:
1. Act the students what will happen next.
2. Draw a picture of what will happen next.
3. Connect the sentence to the appropriate pictures.
READING ACTIVITY
Instructions: The teacher will read the sentence first, and then the teacher will call
few learners to read the sentence.
1. My mom cooked me a good, hearty breakfast.
2. My dad got upset about the low grades on my report card.
3. I studied hard for the exam.
4. I forgot to bring my wallet to the movie theatre.
5. I forgot to bring my basketball shoes to the game.

Pre-Reading Activities
Instructions:
1.Read the story. Think about what you already know in addition to what the story
says. Try to figure out what the story means by thinking about what makes the most
scene.
Reading Activity
There once was a very greedy man who sold everything the owned and
bought a brick of gold. He buried the gold brick behind a hut that was across the
road from his shabby old house. Every day, the greedy man went across the road
and dug up his gold brick to look at it.
After a while, a workman noticed the greedy man across the road every day,
the greedy man dug down for his gold brick, but the hole was empty. He pulled at his
hair and cried out in sorrow. “My beautiful gold brick!” he wept.
A neighbor came running and asked the greedy man what had happened.
What had happened? When the greedy man told him, the neighbor just shrugged his
shoulders. “Why be so sad?” said the neighbor. Just go get a rock and put it in that
hole and pretend that it is gold. It will do you as much good as the gold old.”
