read and observe the following instructions carefully. Write your Name, School and Index
Number in the spaces provided above.

This booklet consists of two parts, Paper 2 and Paper 1. Answer Paper 2 which comes first,
in your answer booklet and Paper 1 on the Objectives Test answer sheet. Paper 2 will last 1
hour 15 minutes after which the answer booklet will be collected.
Do not start Paper 1 until you are told to do. Paper 1 will last 40 minutes.

2. Begin each answer to a question on a fresh page. Leave two lines between answer where
there are sub-sections to the same question.

This paper is made up of 6 (six) questions. Candidates are to answer any
4(four) questions. All workings must be clearly shown. Marks will not be
awarded for correct answers without corresponding workings. All questions
carry equal marks.
1. The following were the marks scored by students in a maths test:

2. a) Dr. B. Aseda, a business woman at Bronikrom, imported goods


valued at GH¢600,000.00.
At the clearing port, the following were charged on the goods:
i. NHIL = 2.5% iii. COVID 19 = 1%
ii. VAT = 12.5% iv. Other duties = 4%

Calculate
i. The total charges on the goods imported.
ii. Total cost of the goods imported.
iii. If Dr. wants 20% profit on the goods, how much should he sell the
goods.

b) A bag contains 6 black cards and 8 white cards. A card was selected
from the bag without replacement. A second card is then taken out.
Draw a probability tree for this.
Find the probability that:
i. both are black
ii. A white and a black.

3. a. Copy and complete the table below using the given relations:

ii. measure the acute angle at the point y₁ = y₂

d. At a breakfast table, a member of the household is permitted to eat


one-third of the bread served. If there are 9 people in the household,
how many loaves of bread are needed to serve this family?

4. A class is made up of 60 students writing an examination in English


and Mathematics. After marking the papers, the following results
were out: 20 more passed in Mathematics than English, 8 students
passed in both papers, and 10 students did not pass in any of the
papers.

a. Draw a Venn diagram to illustrate the data above.

b. Use the diagram to find the number of students who passed in


i. only English
ii. only one paper.

c. One and a third of a number plus 1 is at least twice the same number
plus 2. What is the number? Show the number on a number line.

5. Nana Osei will be 50 years next week. As part of the celebration, a


class mate requested for the following items: 20 loaves of bread, 30
dozen of eggs and 50 crates of drinks. A nearby supermarket
attendant brought the price of the items selected as follows:
GH¢50.00 per loaf of bread, GH¢ 60.00 per dozen of egg and
GH¢20.00 per crate of drink.

a. Calculate the costs of the items needed for the party above.

b. If Nana's friend has only hundreds cedis notes and two hundreds
cedis notes available, and he decided to use both notes pay for the
items, what combinations can he use to pay for the items bought.

c. Given vector a = (4³) and b = (31 ), find

6. a) Onipaba drew a 5 – sided polygon as one of his presentations for his


project work.
(i) How many triangles can be drawn from this polygon?
(ii) In the above diagram, 2 of the angles are right angles each, and
the remaining angles are equal in value.
(iii) Find the value of the smallest angle.

(b) A ladder is placed against a wall which is 8meters high. The distant of
the foot of the ladder from the wall is 6meters, find the length of the
ladder.

(c)
The figure ABCD is a site allocated for a mega
stadium for the People of Domeabra. The inner
shape QRST is the playing field. Both figures (ABCD
and QRST) are square in shape.

i. The length of AB is 25meters and that of QR is 20meters. If the


space left after constructing the main playing field is to be designed
for spectators, calculate the area for the spectators.
