Things in the Classroom

In the classroom, there are many objects that help us study. Let's learn the names of things
in the classroom in English!

Table
A table is where we place our books, notebooks, and pens. We use the table to write and
study.

Chair
A chair is where we sit. We sit on the chair when we listen to the teacher or do our work.

Blackboard / Whiteboard
The teacher writes on the blackboard or whiteboard. We can see the teacher’s writing here.

Chalk / Marker
We use chalk to write on the blackboard and markers to write on the whiteboard.

Eraser
An eraser is used to erase mistakes on paper. The teacher also uses an eraser to clean the
board.

Book
A book helps us learn about new things. We read our books in the classroom.

Notebook
A notebook is where we write down notes and homework.

Pencil
A pencil is used to write or draw. We can also erase pencil marks with an eraser.

Pen
A pen is used to write, but we cannot erase pen marks easily.
Ruler
A ruler helps us draw straight lines and measure things.

Bag
A bag is where we put all our school supplies. We carry our books, pens, and other things in
the bag.

Example Sentences:
I sit on my chair and write in my notebook.

The teacher writes on the whiteboard with a marker.

I use my ruler to draw a straight line.

We read our books every day in class.

My bag is full of school supplies.

Simple Classroom Vocabulary Exercise:


What do you sit on?
Answer: A chair.

What do you use to write?


Answer: A pencil or a pen.

Where does the teacher write?


Answer: On the blackboard or whiteboard.

What helps you draw straight lines?


Answer: A ruler.

Activity:
Ask the students to look around the classroom and name as many objects as they can in
English. This will help them practice their vocabulary and recognize the items.
