Objectives
1. Introduce students to the concept of colors in English, focusing on the
basic colors: red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, pink, brown,
black, and white.

2. Develop students’ ability to identify and name these colors in English.

3. Foster students’ ability to recognize and associate colors with objects

in their daily environment.

Introduction (5 - 10 minutes)
1. The teacher starts the lesson by greeting the students and presenting
the topic of the day: colors in English. He can do this interactively,
showing objects of different colors and asking students to name them
in English.

2. Next, the teacher can do a brief review of the colors in Portuguese, to

ensure that all students remember the colors they should learn in
English.

3. To introduce the topic, the teacher can tell a short story involving
different colors, such as “The Colorful Rainbow.” This story can be read
in English, with the teacher pointing to the colors in the illustrations of
the book.

4. Another way to grab students’ attention is to show a video of an

animated song about colors in English. This can be an effective and fun
way to introduce the vocabulary of colors.

Development (15 - 20 minutes)

1. Activity 1 - Color Hunt: The teacher can organize a “Color Hunt” in
the classroom. He will hide small objects of different colors around the
room. Students, in groups, will have to find the objects and name the
color in English. This will help reinforce the vocabulary and the
association of colors with objects.

2. Activity 2 - Color Matching Game: The teacher can prepare a color

matching game. He will need cards with different colors in English, and
students, in pairs, will have to match the cards with the same color.
This activity will allow students to practice the pronunciation of colors
and improve their memory.

3. Activity 3 - Color in the World: The teacher can ask students, in
groups, to bring images from magazines or print from the internet, of
objects, animals, plants, etc., in different colors. They will have to
classify the images according to the color in English. This activity will
help students associate colors with real objects and practice writing in
English.

4. Activity 4 - Color Song: To end the development stage, the teacher

can teach a simple song about colors in English, such as “I Can Sing a
Rainbow”. Singing songs is an effective way to learn and remember
vocabulary. The teacher can use gestures and movements to make the
activity more fun and dynamic.

Return (5 - 10 minutes)
1. Group Discussion: The teacher gathers all students and promotes a
group discussion about the activities carried out. Each group can share
what they learned and the challenges they faced. The teacher can ask
questions like: “Which color did you find the most times?”, “Which
color was the easiest to find?”, and “Which color was the hardest to
find?”. This will allow students to reflect on the learning process and
express their opinions and feelings about the activities.

2. Connection with Theory: The teacher can then connect the practical
activities with the theory, reinforcing the vocabulary of colors in
English. He can ask students to point to the objects in the classroom
and name the color in English, or to draw an object and color it
according to the color in English. This will help consolidate learning and
correct any possible errors.

3. Final Reflection: To conclude the lesson, the teacher can suggest

that students reflect for a minute on what they have learned. He can
ask two simple questions to guide the reflection:

o “What was the easiest color to remember in English and why?”

o “What was the most challenging color to remember in English

and why?”

4. Feedback and Closure: The teacher thanks the students for their
participation and provides feedback on the lesson. He can highlight the
positive points and offer suggestions for improvement. He can also
suggest additional resources for students who wish to deepen their
knowledge of colors in English, such as books, websites, and
educational games.

Conclusion (5 minutes)
1. Lesson Summary: The teacher gives a brief summary of the main
points covered during the lesson, recalling the colors in English and the
activities carried out. He reinforces that learning the names of colors in
a foreign language is a fundamental and practical skill that can be
used in various everyday situations.

2. Connection with the Real World: The teacher highlights how the
knowledge acquired in the lesson can be applied in the real world. For
example, when shopping, students will be able to identify and name
colors in English; when watching cartoons or reading books in English,
they will be able to recognize and understand words related to colors;
and when playing games, they will be able to understand instructions
and rules that involve colors.

3. Extra Materials: The teacher suggests some extra materials for

students who wish to deepen their knowledge of colors in English.
These materials may include children’s books, educational websites,
mobile apps, and online games that reinforce the vocabulary of colors
in a playful and interactive way.

4. Importance of the Subject: Finally, the teacher emphasizes the

importance of the subject, explaining that knowledge of colors in
English is not only useful for communication but also contributes to the
development of motor skills, observation, concentration, creativity, and
memory. He encourages students to continue practicing and exploring
colors in English, both in the classroom and at home, and to share their
discoveries and learnings with their peers.
