PRSENTATION SOFTWARE

Presentation software (sometimes called "presentation graphics") is a category


of application program used to create sequences of words and pictures that
tell a story or help support a speech or public presentation of information.

MS-POWERPOINT
Microsoft PowerPoint is a powerful presentation software developed by
Microsoft. It is a standard component of the company's Microsoft Office
suite software, and is bundled together with Word, Excel and other Office
productivity tools.

The program uses slides to convey information rich in multimedia and is


used to create complex business presentations, simple educational
outlines and much more.

The file extension of a saved PowerPoint presentation is “.ppt”. Or “.pptx”


The first version of this program, when introduced by Microsoft was MS
PowerPoint 2.0 (1990).

Features of PowerPoint
 Layout

Layout provide a basic design of the slide. How the things are
appearing in the slides are define in the layout. You can get
various layout in the layout option of slide section of home tab.
The main option available are.

1) Title Slide

2) Title and content

3) Comparison

4) Name Card

5) Picture and caption.

 Design
Here we get various designs for a slide. Various Themes and variant can be
implemented in the slide. In this option you can also set the slide size as
standard or wide screen.

 ANIMATION
Animation is a special effect on objects like moving or disappear . There are
three category of animation. PowerPoint animations are used to create games
or movies. But majorly it is used for the purpose of education and business
sectors. You can see this option under the Animations tab.

Type of Animation

There are so many in-built animation effects provided by MS PowerPoint, and


they are categorized into four types:
 Entrance: It has animations telling that how an object should enter. For
example, with the fly animation, the object will “fly” onto the slide from any
of the 4 directions.

 Emphasis: This type of animation usually occurs by the mouse clicks i.e
when the object is already on the slide. For example, we can make the
object wave after the entrance animation has finished.

 Exit: These have a set of animations to control the exit animations. For
example, in the Fade animation, the object will fade away.

 Motion Paths: They are similar to emphasis animation effects, but these
animations are a little advanced as the object will move in a specified path.
These paths can be edited also.

Here is the list of some animation effects.


i) Appear
ii) Fade
iii) Fly in
iv) Float in
v) Split
vi) Wipe

 SLIDE TRANSITION
While animation gives you the ability to animate elements within your slide,
transitions give you the ability to change how slides change from one to
another. This can have a significant impact on a slide’s first impressions.
 Some of the most notable transitions are:
 Cut
 Reveal
 Shapes
 Uncover
 Wipe

Slide Views
The group of four buttons located to the left of the Zoom control, near the
bottom of the screen, lets you switch between PowerPoint views.
 Normal Layout view:
This displays page in normal view with the slide on the right and a list of
thumbnails to the left. This view allows you to edit individual slides and also
rearrange them.
 Slide Sorter view:
This displays all the slides as a matrix. This view only allows you to rearrange
the slides but not edit the contents of each slide.
 Reading View:
This view is like a slideshow with access to the Windows task bar in case you
need to switch windows. However, like the slideshow you cannot edit anything
in this view.

PRESENTING A SLIDE SHOW


To present a slide show you have these options

i) From current slide: The presentation starts from current slide to the
last slide.
ii) From Beginning : The presentation starts from the first slide.
iii) Online Presentation : Present your slide online in Microsoft platform.

Uses Of PowerPoint
There are a lot of effective uses of PowerPoint for play and work. Thus, you can
create a PowerPoint presentation for just about any juncture. The Different
Uses for PowerPoint are confined only by the imagination; take a look at some
of them:
1) Use PowerPoint to Make Tutorials
For the purpose of training or educational contexts, PowerPoint can be easily
used to create worksheets and tutorials. Further on, the simple vocabulary
worksheet may use clip art of different objects for scholars to do the labeling
with their names. The tutorials can also be given to individual students when
they are printed onto paper.

2) Prepare nice Animations using PowerPoint


No doubt, PowerPoint being a valuable tool enables you adding music, sound and effects to your
